I found this attraction on Trip Advisor and thought it would be a good place for our group to visit, and it was! It's easy enough to find, being located in the huge Terreiro do Paco.
Despite the odd location problem with the audio guides (I tried to rectify by moving nearer the relevant exhibit) I found them very helpful (and the headphones were very comfortable too which was a bonus!) and they enable you to move round the museum at your own pace. There's a lot of attention to detail here, especially in the section dealing with the spices and other goods where the smells really add to the experience.
I really liked the section dealing with the catastrophic earthquake of 1755; I knew about this beforehand, but the way it was portrayed made it seem much more real, and I found it quite moving. All in all, definitely worth visiting!
