Handy location, friendly staff

Review of Solaris Hotel
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 1, 2018
Located in a fairly central area, the hotel is comfortable. We had a double room with about a queen size bed. The pillows were OK. The room, bathroom, and halls were clean, and the elevator is small. The location is quiet, except for the noisy construction next door on the day we arrived. There are a number of cafes and bars within a few steps, and some of the better restaurants are within an easy walk from the hotel. The market and fishing docks are also nearby. The breakfast was standard but not exceptional. The desk staff was very helpful and friendly, with fine spoken English.

My wife and I stayed here for one week, the room is a good size, bathroom ok also, shower and towel fitting a bit high. Aircon ok, WIFI good, I had no problems. The Breakfast room/Bar is very modern and Breakfast is excellent, normal continental with a small hot selection and the coffee is good. By far the main asset to this hotel are the staff, the receptionists are always friendly and helpful at any time of day, this friendly and helpful manner extends to the ladies at breakfast and to housekeeping.
The location to the town is ideal, restaurants are near by, there is a lovely pasteleria B (cake Shop) 10 yards from the front door where the selection is very good and the staff are very nice. The beach is a 10 to 15 minute walk and also the catamaran to Troia where you can visit a large beach, get boats for dolphin watching and some visit Roman ruins.

Came to this hotel to print my boarding pass and was amazed with friendliness of the staff, dwi and winda at the desk noticed my big bag and allowed me to store it for free. They then gave me directions to the beach.

Accommodation was chosen by our cycle company. We were very pleased with our room the central location of the hotel and the very substantial breakfast. Clean tidy and friendly and a smoke free room. Even our bikes had their own accommodation. Would use this hotel again.

A very nice hotel in the centre of Setubal, very clean throughout with a very friendly staff, parking is a bit difficult at times, otherwise, a very good hotel, but remember it's only a three star hotel don't expect luxury and the location is excellent.

I stayed for four nights. The room was clean, on the top floor overlooking some roofs. As I'd requested to be put in a quiet location, this was what I wanted.

The room itself was small, and the furnishings slightly on the spartan side. The breakfast buffet was standard for a Portuguese hotel. Most of the guests I encountered in the breakfast room were technicians from out of town working in the Port, apparently on a project.

The location is excellent. The bus station is 10 minutes by foot, and the main train station just over twice that. Many decent restaurants are within a five minute walk (e.g., see my review of Duarte, which is about 300 meters from the hotel).

In short, the hotel offers pretty good value for money; however, it's not going to be a stay you're likely to remember fondly.
