Good value for money and ideally located so it seams a bit unfair to complain, BUT the breakfast WASN'T good.
Very, very limited/basic choice with bad coffee and watery orange cordial - we saw others leave the coffee and orange on the table, so not just us. We were torn between thinking, 'shall we go get a decent breakfast elsewhere' and 'we shouldn't have to when we have already paid for it'.
It wouldn't take much to offer something half decent and if cost is an issue, we would knowingly have paid a bit more.
Sorry guys, good service, good location, good cost - bad breakfast.
N. Parking available at the back of the hotel.

The roof terrace was impressive, but we didn't know it was there until we were leaving - shame!

We chose this budget hotel for it’s location, parking and wifi and got 2 out of 3! Location is great, walking distance from cafes, museums, restaurants etc. They have a small car park just to the side of the hotel entrance, room for about 6 cars on a first come first served basis at no extra charge. You may be asked to move your car to allow another car to get out but it’s great just plonking it there and not having to worry about it. We had room 217 which had 2 very comfortable singles pushed together to make a large double, a bath and in bath shower and a small balcony that overlooked courtyards. Our room had a persistent bad smell to it though a horrid mixture of drains and sometimes cooking which meant we had to keep the balcony door open. Also wifi here was pretty abysmal, we couldn’t get wifi in our room and even in the cafeteria it was a pretty weak signal. Breakfast was very basic from 7 to a very punctual 10am, and consisted of ham, cheese, toast, bread, jam and yogurt with fake orange juice, coffee and tea. We wouldn’t rush to stay here again because of the bad wifi and odours.

Room tip: 217 nice and quiet, smallish because of big bed and drainy/cooking smells

I stayed here the first week of November and couldn't have been happier with the location. Close to the sea front and main attractions. The rooms were basic but sufficient for my needs. I did have a balcony but it didn't look out to a view, but handy if you're a smoker. The roof terrace has an amazing view of the city too. A basic breakfast is included, which was fine for a quick bite before going out.

Although the room was slightly dated it was in a great location for all amenities.
It was a continental breakfast which was suffice for us as we don't usually have a lot to eat first thing in the morning.

There was no pool, but the roof top area was fantastic for us to chill out.
The Sirius bar was the cheapest we found in the full of Funchal and is well used by the locals.

I certainly would recommend this hotel to others.

A basic, clean hotel with bar and cafe/restaurant attached. No pool but a great roof-top terrace with a residents lounge directly below the terrace for reading, TV, Wi-Fi. The reception staff varied in their levels of helpfulness, although - as with all Madeirans we encountered - they visibly brightened when you spoke to them in Portuguese. The staff in the restaurant are friendly enough. This is also the breakfast room where you will find a typical, adequate continental breakfast available from 7.30 til 10 am. The small bar next to that turned out to be the least expensive of any we visited, very reasonable and friendly, helpful staff. The bedrooms are a bit dated but they have the essentials, i.e. large wardrobe, bedside units, dressing table, TV, comfortable beds and en-suite bathroom with hairdryer, shaver point and bath with shower too. A kettle would have been a useful addition and the balcony was just about unusable, so small (about 5 foot by 5 foot - or 1.6M x 1.6M) when you consider that the table takes up a full quarter of the available space and the two chairs almost the same and they DON'T slot under the table! Also there is no view to speak of anyway from any balconies, front or back. However, we didn't come here to sit on the balcony and as I've stated, the hotel is in a great location with a fabulous square (Praca do Carmo) just around the corner if you want to relax in a cafe/bar/restaurant in the sunshine, although oddly, it is mostly deserted in the evenings. The Sirius is a 5 minute stroll down to the promenade area, maybe 10 minutes to the Old Town. It is on a very slight incline but nothing that can't be managed comfortably by the majority of people. If you're arriving in Funchal via the very handy Aero-bus you need to get off at stop number 4.Don't cross any roads or you'll be going in the wrong direction. Just walk 'uphill' towards the junction, turn left at this junction, you will now be walking downhill, carry on along this road for about 1-2 minutes (depending on luggage!), you will pass three or four narrow side-streets on the right-hand side of this road, eventually you will come to a junction of 3 roads with a 'Continente' supermarket on the left, look up to your right and you will see two Hotel signs, one of which is the Hotel Sirius. Enjoy your stay - we did!

Room tip: Traffic noise out front, quieter at the back
