Relaxing because we didn't hire a car for the first time ever. We relied upon local buses, taxis and did tours. As to the hotel, we found nothing to really complain about. Our room, on the 11th floor had wonderful views over the bay and we made good use of lovely weather on the small but adequate balcony. There were a couple of issues in our bathroom - the floppy shower head and poor flow from the sink tap, but these were relatively minor. The kitchenette was a boon, and thanks to the mini market at the bottom of the (steep) hill supplied us with the necessary for stocking the fridge; ie milk, water and wine. What more did we need?
We found the food to be of good quality, always fresh and hot when it should be, with plenty of salad choices. To us, the lack of chips was a real bonus, and I enjoyed the many different fish choices. We were not on an all-inclusive booking but did a 3 day dinner meal plan (excluding drinks) to complement visits to local restaurants, which worked well, although make sure reception has all the details correctly identified! Breakfasts were again good and plentiful. Pool towels are available from reception which few people seemed to realise. There was entertainment of some description every evening, and the wifi was free and reasonably fast in the main lounge area. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful, particularly the maids. We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and on beautiful Madeira.

We were FirstChoice guests staying as a couple during Easter week. The hotel is part of a three hotel complex. Only Mimosa offers all-inclusive. It is an 11 story hotel with excellent views over Funchal or the sea. Very clean. The rooms are simple but nice. They have a TV with quite a bit of English content (plus other languages). Ours had an integrated kitchenette and fridge. Most of the staff are courteous and hard working. The food is good but with limited choice. For example – no pizza, often no potato/chips. No ice cream (it is in a locked cabinet)! There are two bars, one of which isn’t used! The drinks list for all-inclusive is quite limited: no cocktails – odd because FirstChoice explicitly mentions them in their advertising. The bar staff were not friendly and could be downright grumpy.

There are two pools: an outdoor one and a heated indoor-pool with jacuzzi and sauna. There is also a gym. Wi-Fi is available in the reception and bars and is free and quite good. The site is on a steep slope but steep slopes and hills are common in Madeira. The hotel is located about a five minute walk from the sea and attractive lido area. There are no beaches (on Madeira). The centre of Funchal can be walked to in less than 30-minutes and is well worth several visits. There are also buses and taxis.

No ice-cream or cocktails. They have them – you have to pay (extra).

Thank you for your positive review of our Hotel Mimosa, which is very accurate. Indeed our all inclusive program does not offer cocktails, and ice cream is only available at snack time at the bar by the pool. We hope that you enjoyed your stay with us and will be returning soon!

We had a fantastic holiday in this lovely hotel. Our room was on the 11th floor with a really lovely sea view balconyas well as over the whole complex .
The room was very clean and tidy with excellent facilities, our room was cleaned everyday
The roof top terrace on the 11th floor was amazing with the sun there all day and the most amazing view over Funchal.
We felt that this holiday was extremely good value for money.
The food was excellent with a varied menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The staff were really friendly and welcoming in all areas of the hotel, reception, resturant, bar and room service.
There were a few staff members who offered exceptional customer service.
In particular Aleno and Tobias from the terrace bar and Tatiania from restaurant.
The only bad experience we had throughout our stay there was with a member of the management staff, Mr George.
Mr George was present in the restaurant at the weekend of our stay.
In his presence the staff appeared very uncomfortable and stressed, which is somewhat understandable to a certain extent, when a manager is present.
We, along with many other diners, were unfortunate to experience a very unpleasant situation between this man and a young waitress.
The waitress was on her own ,serving many busy tables and doing her best to please customers.
Mr George began shouting in a loud, angry and aggresive manner at the waitress, reducing her to tears in the middle of a busy restaurant.
The waitress in question may not have been doing her work to his expectation, but she was working hard, being friendly and helpful to the customers, which is what is expected of good customer service.
If this man had an issue with her work, he should have acted like a manager, taken her aside and spoken to her in private.
How does he expect to have staff trained properly if he, as a manager, doesnt show respect to them?
This was the one and only let down at this hotel and is such a pity that it was due to someone at management level.
He could learn lots of people skills from the lovely staff at this hotel.

Room Tip: 1106 offers amazing views

my room had a balkong with very beautiful view. unfortunately my bed had noise when I was moving from one side to the other side!
breakfast was very good and the personals in the resturants had a very friendly behaviour. Room had no internet, it was bad and good! bad since we had no access to the internet when we were in the room, but it was good since we had to go to the reception,s area for free wifi and meet the people or watching the intertainments at nights!

Room Tip: rooms towards ocean and pool.

This hotell is nice and clean with seawiew from the balcony. The outdoorpool is not heated so around Christmas we could not use it. The pool indoors is small but they also have a jaqusi. The breakfast is pretty good with different sorts of bread, cheese, ham, jam, fruit etc. The hotell is situated in the Lido-area, only a 20 minutes walk from Funchal.
