We stayed for 11 nights and loved it. We were in the smallest of the studios but it was more than enough for our needs and, despite being in a reasonably built up area, surprisingly quiet.
A small kitchenette, well equipped, and more than adequate for a little one pot cooking on the nights we couldn't drag ourselves out for a meal. A good double bed, my side squeaked a bit but nothing major, a small dining area and a sofa off to one side.
Outside was a cobbled area with seating which was a lovely place to sit in the evenings, reading or playing cards or indeed for breakfast.
There is also the main veranda which gives a spectacular view of the bay with comfy chairs and sofas for sitting out in the evening.
The pool area was wonderful, it seems to have the sun all day but was supplied with parasols if you need a little shade and the pool is fabulously refreshing.
Helena and Roberto were superb, anything they could do to help they did. They organised a taxi to meet us at the airport which was so much nicer than waiting for some transfer bus. Our first couple of nights were extremely hot and we had to sleep with the windows open, which gave the local bugs an a la carte dinner. We requested a fan for the room and next day, there it was. Could we have a parasol for the cobbled area outside the studio? No problem. Where can we get some supplies? easy and Roberto is probably right, the bakery the next road over may well be the best in Madeira!
If I had any criticism it would be that our bathroom wasn't very well ventilated, with no window and only a tiny extractor fan, and stayed very damp. As a result it did start to whiff a bit.
Other than that we loved our time here and would definitely recommend it to anyone although, be prepared. This is on the old town side of Funchal and, while the walk into town is easy because it's all downhill, the walk back, after a big meal is a real tester. For €5-6 you can get a taxi to do all the work for you or take a good pair of shoes and walk off some of that big dinner.

We had a great time in Funchal with Helena and Roberto! The apartment turned out to be just perfect, even though we planned to rent the other one (with private pool), but that one was already booked. The Jasmine apartment was cosy, contained practically everything we needed (we could even cook for ourselves, but as there were a lot of nice restaurants within walking distance, we didn't need to), clean and nice. Quinta esperanza is a beautiful hotel, quiet, with a very nice garden, with pool and we even had our own terrace. Helena was very helpfull, and we could always reach Helena or Roberto in case of any problem. We could certainly recommend Quinta Esperanza and when we'll visit Madeira next time, we would definitely stay there again!
