We called Hotel de Guimaraes at 8pm for a room that night, and were happy that they had something available. Arriving at 11pm, we were pleasantly surprised at the presentation. The lobby was a bit utilitarian, but clean and recently outfitted, and the staff were accommodating.
Our room was large enough, with a luggage rack, queen bed and a desk, chair and comfortable chair. We were in the front of the building on the third floor, but the street noise (in front of a ramp and rotary) was not noticeable. The bathroom was walk in shower and space for everything. Breakfast was diverse and sufficient.
The hotel is not smack in the center, but it is a 1 kilometer or 15 minute walk to the famous church: Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Consolação e Santos Passos, or ten minutes to shopping.More
