The place looks like a castle. It is as advertised. Super cool interior especially in the royal suite. A truly one of a kind experience. However, two things would prevent me from returning if I am back in Porto. 1) The breakfast is mediocre. I had breakfast at multiple places on my 10 day trip through Portugal, and this one just felt like they weren't trying. Additionally I showed up 15 minutes before the end of breakfast and I saw staff taking food for themselves even though I, a guest, had not even had the opportunity to eat. 2) I had a deep scratch on my car from another guest in the parking lot. I paid for 2 nights of parking. This is not FREE parking. They have cameras that are literally looking at my car at all hours. They could not help me find the culprit and refused to take any responsibility. They wouldn't even refund the two nights of parking. They said the videos are only live feed so too bad. And if it happened at night when no one is watching that closely, they wouldn't have even seen it. A better hotel would have done a lot more about the situation than this one. Truly disappointed.

Esteemed guest, many thanks for you positive remarks about our facility. We're glad that your stay, as you've put it, felt like one of a kind.

Although we're extremely appreciative of your review, we would like to take this opportunity to clarify your comments about parking: Upon arrival, every guest is presented with a document stating the terms, conditions and privacy policy. In that document, it is stated very clearly, in 3 languages, that "The hotel is not responsible for any damages caused to the vehicles, whatever the cause (...)" as well as pricing.
In order to use our parking, this document must be read and signed by our guests. Our cameras are not recording and are only working with a live feed. With that said, if we glance at the cameras and see an event like what you claimed had happened in our grounds, we'd act immediatly, but as it wasn't the case, once again, we're very sorry, but there's nothing we could've done about it.

Concerning breakfast: We offer a free buffet service, with 6 variety of fresh cut fruit, 3 types of cheese, sorted yogurts, 5 types of bread, cereals, tomatoes, mushrooms, ham, scrambled and boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, juice, coffee, different kinds of tea, capuccino, chocolate milk and a wide variety of local sweets. For your next stay, please be so kind to inform us what else you may need for your breakfast as well as any other aspect that's not meeting your expectations, we were as will always be here to further improve all of our guests stay when confronted with any complaint, opinion or suggestion.

We're sorry we could not meet your high expectations.

Esteemed guest, we have registered and taken in consideration your positive review regarding our establishment.
It's a hard job keeping a 120 year old structure authenthic and clean, so we are very proud to see all the effort that Castelo Santa Catarina’s staff has put together being appreciated. It's really good to know that you have had a good stay with us.
The photos you took are amazing! Thanks for sharing!

Kind regards from our team.

Charming place-former estate from 1887. Gorgeous tile work, formal gardens and even a chapel on site. Quiet, gated & attentive to all requests. Good home base to explore Porto. Evening “ladies” were out on a late return to hotel but fairly quiet during the day.

Large clean quiet room in the new building attached to the castle (#207).View on the nice inside yard and patio. Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfortable beds (not too hard). Charming dining room in the castle with excellent breakfast (food could be hotter): fresh fruits, crepes, eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, many deserts. Located in a quieter area, not too far away from the center (15-20 minutes walk downhill - light slope). Soft towels.
Room book for 3 people. Had only 2 glasses both days

Well, there isn’t really a drawbridge, or a mote but there is a really cool castle. Sorry we forgot to take pictures and we only gave it a four because we stayed in a contemporary room. The castle has both and we got the new owes.

The grounds, the dining room, front entrance are amazing. It has easy access, and fantastic parking. Let me say this, as we wrap up this portion of the trip, anytime you can find parking connected to your hotel in these ancient cities is pure gravy - if you get my meaning.
