We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Boa Vista. We stayed in the two apartments which are located at the side of the hotel. There are only two words to describe them FAULTY TOWERS.

The apartments are dark and terribly dated; wooden balcony windows, wood chip walls, box television and dirty kitchens. I can’t comment about the hotel rooms as we didn’t get to see one.

The hotel itself was quite pretty with an amazing view but there are definitely more negatives than positives...

Negatives:
The food - Breakfast consisted of sloppy eggs and chipolata hot dog sausages.
Atmosphere - no music on around the pool, sat in pure silence
Sun loungers - nowhere near enough sun loungers for the amount of guests, if your not down the pool with your towel before 8am your not getting one
The apartments - as described above

Positives:
Location - 10/15mins walk to the old town & the beach
View - lovely view over looking the beach to the left and the marina to the right.

The hotel clientele seemed to be for the over 55’s as a group of 27-30 year olds we were definitely the odd ones out and got glared at for talking to each other on numerous occasions. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel to any one of our age or people who go on holiday to have fun.

Myself and my partner stayed for 5 nights. I couldn't fault the hotel. Great value for money, spotlessly clean, staff were so helpful. Wanted a massage and the receptionist booked one for us, which was amazing, about a 25 mins walk away. Reception were always helpful with directions and recommendations. We didn't eat in the restaurant but breakfast was perfect. We drank in the rooftop bar a few times and the barman was very efficient even though he was rushed off his feet. Pool area is fab and very clean and peaceful. The gym is also perfect, although walks/runs along the seafront are better. There is a lovely bar called bona parte about 5 mins walk accross from Praia da Luiz. Some nice restaurants on the beach too. The tram is 10 mins from the centre or a taxi costs from 7 to 10 euro. I will definitely visit again and recommend to anyone. Very relaxing. trip :-)

Spent 4 lovely days here at this lovely hotel, staff are really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was fine and the rooftop terrace was stunning. The sea front is a stones throw away and there is plenty of lovely sand. Food wise there isn’t a massive choice after 6pm, there are a few places along the sea front but the hotel offers a dining experience on most evenings and reasonable room service. Beds were on the hard side, however after the second night we got used to them.

Booked for a week here. I wanted to see Porto but also have some downtime, so the Hotel's location at the mouth of the Douro is excellent with beaches on your doorstep, and the City just a bus or tram ride away.

I booked a triple room at the front of the hotel by email (3-bed rooms were not available to book online) The hotel is well-appointed, very clean with a lovely roof-top pool, bar and terrace. We dined once in the restaurant, and although the service was exceedingly slow (just one guy running everything), the food when it arrived was very good. Wine prices were excellent.

Breakfast was good, but as previously mentioned, a bit of variation in the range each morning would have been appreciated.

I took a kettle, but found one in the room, but no provisions are provided so take your own tea/coffee etc. The breakfast room had a notice up that the tea-bags were for use in the breakfast room only!

Rooms were cleaned daily, and fresh towels left. Good TV and excellent Wifi.

We walked into Porto once along the front - about 3 miles. Excellent views over the Douro and many interesting sites along the way. We came back by Vintage tram that day 3E one way. Other days we used the 500 bus which isn't always that faithful to the timetable!! Andante travel cards can be purchased in the local paper shop 2 minutes away from the hotel, good value if you're doing multiple journeys, but you can also pay the driver on the bus for single journeys.

Foz do Douro is a lovely resort. Reasonably priced restaurants, and clean well-kept beaches with good public toilets. Check out the Passeio Alegre garden just over the road with its Art nouveau public toilets. There was also a great Sunday market when we were there, with lots of stalls selling local craft items. Also Serralves museum is within walking distance if you're an art or architecture lover.

Excellent location and friendly staff. Not far from the city centre and just 2 minutes far from the beach. The breakfast buffet had lots of different things to choose. All were fresh and delicious. I will stay there again.
