“Tamarind rentals are worth a hard look.”
Reviewed March 10, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

I had watched the Tamarind rentals being constructed over the past few years and decided this year to rent one for part of our vacation. The homes are really impressive and well decorated, for a vacation rental and most importantly they left everyone pleased with the stay.
Everything from the appliances to the layout of the furniture worked well. One night we cooked in and everything we needed was there for us to use. The rooms are open and light with fantastic views of the sea.
If I were to have one criticism its that the management company should have someone clean up the building materials that are in the cliff as this detracts from the beauty of the homes. Also we had asked for some additional coffee but the workers never returned. Would definitely stay here again.

Management Response
26 Apr 2016
Thank you so much for this review, we have noted your comments regarding construction and will do the utmost to attend to this. We are delighted that you found everything that you had asked for, we try to think of all the necessary items that you would need to make you feel at home whilst vacationing with us.. We normally give a small sample pack of our "Tamarind Hills" brand coffee (freshly roasted on island). Since your request was made, we have ordered the larger package of coffee for sale especially for those of our guests who would like to enjoy the flavour of Tamarind Hills long after they have departed from here.

We will be delighted to welcome you once again.

Kind regards,

Gillian (gillian@tamarind-hills.com)

“Beuatiful house in excellent location”

The house we stayed at (Villa B7) was fantastic, quiet, luxurious and a joy to stay in. Although there are great beaches, we were so enamored with the rim flow pool which seems to fall straight into the lovely turquoise Caribbean ocean, we spent many days just sunning ourselves on the picture perfect patio. Even on days we did go out, we rushed to return so that we could enjoy the sunset from the Villa as one has a prime view as the sun sinks into the ocean. The Villa was well stocked with all the necessary elements (towels, pots/pans, crispy sheets on comfortable beds) and is spacious and well furnished with nice natural, artistic elements. We made use of the kitchen and outside grill often, and everything worked seamlessly. The third bedroom doesn't have a good view however, and so in our case, we had our kids come to an arrangement to swap rooms halfway through our stay as the second bedroom (and Master suite) have prime ocean views. There is a fourth bedroom downstairs, perfect if you are travelling with older parents who might want separation or a young couple or large group of freinds, but a little far away for younger children -unless you use it for their play space-in which case- ideal. There are stairs in the Villa and lots of sharp edges and a few drop offs -so not good for those with toddlers or who have trouble with walking.
The staff was excellent, especially Pat, the Property Manager, who went out of her way to organize a complicated charter for us. Rufus the Director was very helpful with suggestions for good restaurant's and beaches. The cleaning and maintenance staff were on point at all times and dealt with whatever came up quickly and efficiently.
The Tamarind Hills property is located between two perfect beaches, both of which are a pretty easy stroll away which is great if you don't want to have to rent a car. They give you the name of a good taxi man - Mr. Vincent- who was reasonably priced and very courteous and accommodating if you don't want to drive yourself, although driving on the island is not too difficult (a few very narrow two way streets through villages that one has to thread through carefully, but otherwise nothing too bad for this neck of the woods) Jolly Harbor is just around the corner and there you will find a well stocked Grocery store, a few ATM's , a Pharmacy and a Dive store.
It seems most beaches in Antigua have a BEACH BAR, serving food and brilliantly cold drinks which is just a fantastic development as then you really only have to show up as most also have some sort of bed + umbrella set up as well, which makes it even easier to start relaxing as your feet hit the sand. Try Jacqui O's- a bit pricey for everyday- but very elegant with a very upscale feel. Also there is a massage hut on Darkwood Beach, and I recommend grabbing a massage on the first day before one gets too sunned- it really helped to get one in the relaxed holiday mood.
Although the Villas are done, the property of Tamarind Hills is still being developed and not properly finished yet, and there is some construction around the hill away from the villas, so if you are going to be bothered by that then this is not the holiday for you. We did not hear much besides the odd rumbling truck a few times through the two weeks we were there. There is also a pretty smelly body of water around the corner on the way in, but the smell doesn't really go beyond the parking lot, and then only sometimes- and believe me - the view is what will be absorbing your attention -it is perfect !!!
Over all and excellent and uncomplicated holiday, made very relaxing by the ease of access to good beaches, easy food shopping and a trouble free beautiful house.
