Ermou Street is a mecca for tourists but not too crowded. You can enjoy walking along window shopping or really shopping. We picked up coffee and then just strolled to a little beyond the ancient church and then turned around and headed back. Lots of local talent performing, nice restaurants and cafes....and...gelato...delicious. Enjoyed the relaxed vibe. definitely something to check out.

Ermou has had its ups and downs and is on the up again after years of economic hardship has taken its toll on Athens’ main shopping street. Some lovely shops and cafes & restaurants along its side streets! Must visit!

This is a pedestrian street in the middle of Athens, right next to Syntagma square. All the tourists go there, many international department storres, but in the crossing allies you can find some nice local stores

It's a big market with many stores, mainly expensive ones, crowded and noisy. But it's a very classic place for the local life.
