The hotel is charming and spotlessly clean. We stayed in Room 19. I did not see the other rooms, but did read the complaints, and I think it's worth upgrading to either Room 19 or 20. The room is very comfortable and a good size. Twin beds pushed together, couch, chair, armoire and a desk. On the balcony there is a table and 2 chairs with a delightful water view of the harbor. The room looks like the pictures on website. The balcony was bigger than I expected. The bathroom is small, awkward tub/shower, but functional. The A.C. in this unit is the BEST. Channels on TV are limited, but did get "Star" channel. Room is on top floor, no elevators, so you are climbing stairs. The breakfast was poor, same items daily and quality so-so, very disappointing. The staff was pleasant, will answer your questions with a smile, but not overly helpful or engaging. It would have been nice if they had given us more of a heads up of where to park before our arrival. The GPS took us to the end of the road where pedestrian only section begins. I ask another hotel owner where Amphora was and he guided me. It is off the main drag, down a quaint, picturesque alley. Upon checking in, when I asked for help with our bags and for guidance as to where my husband should park, the man looked at me as if it was the first time anyone has asked that. Strange. He asked someone to help me, but that guy wasn't happy about it, so we got off to an uncomfortable start. The second guy did bounce back and was very good showing us where to park and he brought a dolly to transport our bags. As for the noise from nightclub, on Friday night only I did hear very faint thumping of bass in our room, but with AC on, couldn't hear it all. Otherwise, it was an extremely quiet room and I wouldn't hesitate recommending this room. I would believe previous warnings from travelers about which rooms to avoid.

Room Tip: Rooms 19 or 20 for size, comfort, quiet and views

Amphora hotel is a beautiful old mansion that once belonged to one family in the beautiful harbour of Chania-one of the most charming towns of Greece. Every room is different and charmingly equipped with antique furniture. If you get a room facing the harbour you can sit at your window all day and night and take the most stunning picktures. The prices are reasonable considering the location.

Room no. 6 is uninhabitable-the bass and drums section of the booming sound equipment of the bar directly under the room is active all night-it is turned off about 0600 am so you will be awake all night. Do not be fooled by the rooms beauty.

Otherwise -stay and enjoy!

Room Tip: At any price-not room 6

Poor room number 6 :( So beautiful, with a balcony right on the port, but plagued by the bar noise that the city seems unable or unwilling to tackle. We have re-oriented the bed and installed additional soundproofing in our never ending battle with our noisy neighbor. It is a significant improvement from before. Thank you for your review.

Stayed here for 1 week in the double economy room. We arrived at the hotel to then find a bottle of wine in our room which was a lovely gesture. The room was a perfect size with a huge bed! The bathroom was a bit on the smaller side but this wasn't an issue.

The view from the rooftop balcony was amazing! It was perfect for sitting out on an evening in the sun with a drink. Everything is within walking distance which is great for those who don't use rental cars.

We stayed at this hotel on 2nd September - a Saturday night and the last night of our holiday in Crete. When shown to our room I thought it one if the most beautiful I have ever stayed in - four poster bed - high wooden raftered ceiling and a balcony and view over chania harbour ... our concierge explained there may be a little noise from the restaurants which line the harbour. It failed to mention the night club next door which played loud thudding music til 7 - yes 7 am!!he clearly knew about it as later when we were paying 137 euros for the privilege of being kept awake all night he said that everyone who stays in that room complains. There is a clear MISDESCRIPTION regarding the noise levels both on the hotel website and booking.com website - who we booked through. The view and the room
Are beautiful but only stay here if you like to hear a bass line thudding through your bedroom wAll ALL NIGHT LONG

The hotel is in a good place, and it is very nice, and characteristic, historic, lovely. Also the staff is really ok and all is clean. Note that if you arrive in the night the taxi can't go there and stops about 400 m before. The room had the bathroom down and a small mezzanine for the bed...it's not so easy to go up and down on a narrow staircase.I think the price for that room was a little expensive.
