I had the pleasure of staying at La Maison Ottomane in "The Roxelane" for four nights at the start of two weeks around the Greek Islands. With only three rooms, I would not class it as a hotel and to call it a B&B would be a disservice. For me, it felt like I was staying in an exclusive private residence. La Maison Ottomane is located at the end of a road, so is very quiet. The room itself was large and extremely tastefully decorated. My usual preference is minimalism without clutter, however the furnishings were a constant discovery and worked very well together to give an Ottomane feel. The bath / shower was divine!

Breakfast in the courtyard was a perfect place to eat and the food served was very substantial, with the ability to vary each day. The eggs sudjuk were a firm favourite.
In terms of location, it was walking distance to wherever you wanted to go but without being in a busy (touristy) area. There are so many excellent restaurants (Salis, Tamam and Glossitses) a short walk away.

Above all, Andreas and Alexandra are gracious hosts who could not do enough for us. The true test of customer service is when things don’t go to plan, which happened on arrival and then departure for us. While only minor, both times Alexandra ensured we were looked after.

Crete has far more to discover than I expected and I really do hope to return to Chania. The only place I would consider staying, would be La Maison Ottomane. Thank you Andreas and Alexandra for the perfect start to our holiday!

(As an aside, make sure you are fully covered if you hire a car! The roads can be narrow in Old Town and I found out the hard way that people can damage your car! However a car is essential to fully explore the island.)

Room Tip: There are only three rooms, I can't imagine there is a bad one!

We are delighted to have successfully helped you launched your holiday.

Readers will be grateful for your sensible heads-up on car insurance - we would add a recommendation for a small car for negotiating the narrow lanes of the Old Town.

Best regards

Andreas

We stayed in the largest room amongst the three rooms this small boutique hotel has. It had a beautiful living room on the ground floor, with an old Victorian bedroom on the first floor.
It might be a small boutique hotel but its owner Andreas and manager Alexandra has the biggest heart in this service industry. The personalized attention they give to you makes you feel privileged.
Its within 5 minutes walking distance to the old town. It has parking space for your vehicle, though the entrance to find the hotel is quite narrow and needs expert maneuvering.
The best thing about this hotel was its BREAKFAST....
We are vegetarians, and the hosts made it their special agenda to treat us royally and it would not be wrong to say that breakfast was the most anticipated part of our day.
Once we mentioned that we loved the watermelons in Chania, and in the evening there was a plate of watermelons waiting for us.
It was one of the most memorable and relaxing trip for us , and we highly recommend anybody reading reviews of this gem of a place, stop reading further, and book a room immediately and you wont be disappointed.
We went around Greece for around 2 weeks, and stayed in more expensive hotels in Mykonos and Santorini, but the quality and service we received in LMO was unparalleled to anything.
Dont miss it...
Thanks again Andreas and Alexandra for your wonderful hospitality.

Thank you so, so much. It was a joy helping to make your visit to Chania a success. We keep thinking of how to further improve our breakfast menu so we may have some new items for you to try on your next visit...

Best regards

Andreas

We have just returned from our second stay at LMO ; possibly the most relaxing and enjoyable 12 days of our lives.

We were once again totally spoilt by the wonderful duo of Andreas (owner) and Alexandra (deputy),  for whom nothing is too much trouble.

The Constantinople room that was our home is the 'lap of luxury' with its beautiful furnishings and antiques from around the world. Fresh flowers and little treats left in the room on our return from our evenings out are just a small example of the kindness and thoughtfulness that we and the other guests received during our stay.

There may be other top class hotels in Chania (one of which we stayed in for our first 2 nights),  but I doubt that any could match the level of service and personal attention that Andreas and Alexandra provide which, combined with the quality of the rooms, superb breakfasts, unrivaled local knowledge and that all important free parking on site, sets LMO firmly at the top of the tree.

The hotel is in a great location. it is in the historic area yards from minoan remains, byzantine and venetian walls. The house is an old Ottoman house and Andreas has decorated it beautifully in that style. The bed is so comfortable and the cotton sheets are embroidered with the hotel name. the toiletries are lovely and the bathrobes and slippers very useful. Breakfast is excellent...white tablecloths, lovely china and plenty of delicious food. I needed lactose free milk and gluten free bread...it was supplied..nothing seemed too much trouble. The hotel booked trips, arranged the airport transfers and a car if you wished.
The hotel is open all year and it is best to get in touch directly with them so they can help to make your stay perfect. It is for couples...not families. there are some good hotels for families in the area.
Chania is very good with plenty of restaurants, shops, excursions and transport.
the weather is very hot in the summer and there are some lovely beaches where food and drink are served on the beach. we went to Santorini for the day and to Knosis followed by a visit to the amazing Hiraklion museum. It is only 20 minutes from the airport. The Greek people are very friendly and helpful. a great place to visit for couples and families.

Room Tip: all three suites are good but individual..ours had a balcony, another was over 2 floors and the third floor suite was larger.

Thank you for your generous feedback. It was a pleasure helping you enjoy your stay.

Your dietary needs were not in the least a problem and it was good of you to forewarn us.

This is a very special place. From arrival to departure, we were taken care of expertly by Alexandra. Before we arrived, she sent us a thoughtful note with instructions to the hotel. The room (Aisha) was gorgeous with a small terrace. It was spacious, luxurious, and beautifully decorated with original art. Breakfast was wonderful in the small courtyard with the other two rooms. Alexandra provided us with very helpful tips and also arranged an early breakfast and out taxi ride to the airport. We can't wait to return.

This is Andreas, the part of the team that was away and is looking forward to your return visit. So glad, though not surprised, that Alex took such good care of you. Thank you for the lovely feedback.
