The Egnatia Hotel is a great place to stay. There is parking just next to it, and the first thing you can't help but notice once parked up is the stunning view over Kavala. Wow.

Reception is great, and the lift and landings give the hotel a real old school charm. The room is clean with a massive comfy bed. We were worried about having a room next to a busy road, but the hotel has invested in two lots of double glazing, so a great night's sleep was had by all.

The walk down to Kavala central was fine for us (c20 mins), but we opted for a cab back. Cabs are plentiful and ours in the evening was less than 5 euros.

Just one observation was that they could have done with more staff on their lovely roof terrace during the evening.

Definitely recommended though!

Medium-sized hotel, relatively modern, with obvious signs of ripening, relatively clean, not quiet, with high-quality staff, medium breakfast and lunch, but very good evening meal. It needs renewal and a freshening of colors, becoming more alive.

Room tip: Room with view to the sea!

A very nice hotel with lovely staff and good food. Do NOT book through an agent in the UK phone the hotel directly and get half board and sea view room. Bare in mind flight arrivals - a bus into town from the airport in the morning or early evening only ! Otherwise a 40 Euro cab fare to the hotel. Roman Ruins 20 mins away well worth a look.

“Egnatia City Hotel & Spa” isn't very big but exceptionally hospitable hotel situated high on the northern-west slopes over to the Bay of Kavala and this position gives to the guests one incredibly picturesque view to the entire Bay. The hotel is one modern and well kept structure that offers all kind of facilities for a pleasant sojourn. The rooms are enough big, well furnished and have spacious and convenient bathrooms. The cleanness in the hotel is in high quality. One additional convenience for the visitors is the meteo-card with weather forecast for next three days that is provided to all the rooms every afternoon from the kindly staff of the hotel. Beside of that, the hotel has well composed SPA centre with all necessary amenities – inner swimming pools, Jacuzzi, Fitness centre and etc. The restaurant offers enough rich breakfast with cold and hot buffet in accordance with the “four-star rank” of the hotel. For dinner is served varied kind of dishes from Greek and world cuisine with enough high quality including gourmet speciality foods. The hotel is very convenient for the tourists, which would like to make a tour in Kavala and enjoy to the many churches (incl. “Saint Nicholas”, “Saint George”, “Saint Paulus”, “Dormition of the Mother of God” etc.) and other landmarks. Close to Kavala except of the famous Thasos Island is situated town Nea Karvali (only 11 km. in east direction) with its the famous church “St. Gregory” in which is kept the relics of Saint Gregory the Theologian one of the greatest saints of the early Christendom.
