“Lovely Stay in Thessaloniki”
Reviewed 23 October 2011

Staying in Porto Palace Hotel was an excellent choice. It's very clean, the rooms are cosy, the service is great, and the staff very friendly and always at our disposal. Most importantly, it is great value for money. I really appreciated the fact that I enjoyed luxurious treatment in a very normal price. The food was amazing also! My husband still mentions the dishes we tasted. And he's not an easy-going person exactly! It's not in the center of Thessaloniki, it's a few minutes distance from it, but the public transportation is good and available all day long till late at night. The staff was very helpful, by giving us directions and calling a cab whenever we asked for. We both loved the building. When we visit Thessaloniki again, we will stay in Porto Palace for sure. We thank them for the hospitality and for making our stay easy and comfy. Lovely people.

This is a 4 star hotel if you are an indulgent visitor.Of course the room we stayed in was comfortable and clean with modern touches but that's all.The a/c does not function well, the room has only windows that would be appropriate for a work place NOT a historical hotel building. The side and back parts of the building are ugly. Also, it seems like they constructed a new part attached to the old building in a offhand way. There is no pool or spa area, the roof garden is only open for receptions and guests carry their luggage by themselves. It is far from the city centre so you need a taxi or a car to get there (if you are lucky enough to find a free parking place...)The mini bar is very expensive- 0,5 L water for 2 euros! We didn't try the restaurant so I don't have an opinion about the food.

Dear guest,

first of all, thank you for taking time to provide us with feedback on your stay with us.
Your review has been taken into serious account and all problems concerning the infrastructure and services will be solved promptly.
We are glad that you have enjoyed the high level of accommodation.
Regarding the location, it is understandable that the hotel stands by the commercial port and the view would be somewhat industrial. Additionally, it is located only 2.5kms from Aristotelous square and the commercial city center, distance that can be covered by public transportation as well as hotel shuttle bus service.
It is true that the hotel does not offer facilities such as spa, as it is a city/business hotel.
We thank you once again for sharing your thoughts with us and we promise to do our best to offer you an unforgettable stay the next time you visit our hotel!

Sincerely,

Konstantina Mamada

My husband and I shared a 3night stay in this hotel during our trip to Thessaloniki.
The hotel is located a bit out of the centre but taxi is only €3,5 to the city centre. When we searched for a city map on the reception desk, we were provided with A4 size fotocopy that couldn't really help us to find places we were interested in. However, the staff was helpful and polite.
The room was relatively big and the bed was half the size of the room but not very comfortable and we had to ask for an extra pillow as there were only 3 pillows in a double room. (I must admit that they brought it immediately). When the a/c was on, we were freezing and when it was off the room was hot.
The bathroom was clean but average in size. From the window of our room (2nd floor) we could see only antennas from nearby buildings (not a nice view really) and the staff was a bit noisy when working in neighbouring rooms even during the siesta hours.

Extra notice: The car parking is free, there is special diet menu in breakfast and the special offer (80 euros/night) was a fair rate for what we got.

The Hotel is basically a wonderful conversion of an industrial facility. We stayed with a large group and we had room on the second floor very roomy big comfortable double bed and a large bedroom. The a/c was very good and capable of freezing the room if set that way. The food was good and plentiful buffet morning and evening.
The Hotel is geared to conferences having over 4 different halls (that I saw) and a roof garden. This meant that in the weekend we stayed we had a wedding on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night and on the first two the guests were noisy late into the night and for some reason the lifts were out of order when they were organizing these three events.
The distance from the center of town is irrelevant, there is a bus every 10 minutes and it takes only 10 minutes to reach the center and 20 to reach the two main museums. On the other hand it only takes 5 minutes to reach the Bus station and take trips from there, or if you have a car it is close to the highway.
In comfort, food, service and looks it is a 5 star hotel, but there are no holiday facilities in the hotel - Just one TV room, no pool, no evening festivities (there are some next door but I didn't visit them.
Good internet WiFi all over including the rooms

Apart from the noise on the two wedding nights and the problem of the elevators on the wedding days, this is a great value for money hotel

Room Tip: Ask if the room is on the level of the elevator - some rooms are half a floor below

Located a bit out of the centre is the best choice if you want to put some luxury in your life. Don't worry about the distance. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel or your can use the hotel shuttle to go down town. The hotel is new and everything smell the clealiness and freshness of the construction.
