The best souvlaki ever! I was not expecting a small restaurant next to the canal - what looks like a tourist trap - to have the best souvlaki ever. Highly recommended!

I have been visiting this place for over 15 years, every time I drive by the Corinth Canal on my own or with family or friends.
And so do most of citizens of Athens while going to Peloponnisos. And since I don't live in Greece anymore I try to go there whenever possible.
So I visited this place with friends while going on a day trip to Loutraki.

This place serves amazing traditional Greek souvlaki (pork or chicken skewers).
The only two options are pork or chicken skewers served with few pieces of bread. Everything made on the grill. Simple and amazing. Yummi !

So while stopping at the souvenir shops at the Corinth Canal definitely stop there and get a great snack. It is in the rightmost side (closer to the canal) there is a small place called ΣΟΥΒΛΑΚΙ or SOUVLAKI.
Pork souvlaki (which is the best) costs 1.30 euros
Chicken souvlaki costs 1.60

i really liked Kanale I would go back there especially to the hotel we stayed at. The town was very clean and interesting, the sea was nice and close to our hotel.

I have been visiting Greece for the last 40 years, and eat at Kanale multiple times each visit. Prior to the national road being built from Attica through the Peloponnese, Kanale was THE PLACE to take a break after watching the ships that traverse the canal. The canal connects the Saronic Gulf (an inlet of the Aegean Sea) and the Gulf of Corinth, an inlet of the Ionian Sea Today you can by-pass the whole area if you choose. I suggest to take the Loutraki exit from the National Road and take a trip back into "old" Greece. The rest-stop serves simple food - souvlaki (pork kabobs), tomato salad, and fried potatoes. They also serve feta cheese, wine and beer, and a variety of coffees. You can order from the souvlaki window or sit down and have a waiter take your order. The food is consistently good - but it is basically "fast food" Greek style. The rest area also includes a gift shop and very clean restrooms. After leaving the intense traffic of Athens, Kanale makes a nice transition into the Peloponnese.

The inter-state (Ktel) bus station for Corinth is directly across the street from Kanale.
