The hotel is in a perfect location for the train station, Tivoli gardens, shopping and attractions.

We had a lovely room with a big balcony overlooking the square, the bath was very modern and the beds were really comfy.

The hotel does look a little tired in some areas but does give the impression that it was very grand back in the day. The bar area is lovely and modern with a fireplace as a central feature. Breakfast was nice with plenty of choice and a coffee machine for lattes etc.

I would stay here again just for the location.

We spent one weekend in the lovely Copenhagen, we were not happy with the weather, but the hotel and the excellent service we got from the hotel during our stay, we forgot the bad weather. We will for sure visit this hotel again and again!

Stayed here for 1 night whilst on a business trip. I found the room small compared to others. Very noisy in the early morning from construction works from a renovation in the street outside. The receptionist said it was a common problem (why not allocate a room that isn't affected?). No remote control in the room and reception refused to bring one up. Sink was small. No instructions for the shower. Expensive as well. I won't stay here again.

Dear Woodscorner,

First of all thank you for staying with us, and as well also for forwarding your feedback about your stay.

I regret to read we did not meet your expectations, and in terms of services provided I certainly understand your dissatisfaction, for which I apologize.

Being in a very central location we unfortunately will never have completely soundproof rooms. - I fully respect the need for a good nights sleep, and therefore over the past months we have been upgrading a large number of rooms with new windows, dramatically reducing the street noise.

Over the upcoming months we will continue this work.

Wishing you all the best.

Our second visit to Copenhagen and the Scandic. We love the centrality of the location - so easy to walk to attractions, restaurants/cafes/shops. The hotel is pleasant to stay in, even with the clock chiming! It does stop at some point during the night (it obviously didn't keep us awake) and starts up again at 8am.

This would be our choice of places to stay in Copenhagen because of its location and the comfort and atmosphere.

The hotel is easily found and in a lovely location on the main square, close to both the central railway station and the Tivoli Gardens.

The reception is warm and welcoming, and the staff manning the desk were extremely friendly, and very keen to ensure that we were given a high quality of service on check-in. Everything was properly explained to us in excellent English.

Our room was easily found and had a pleasant view over the main square. It was spacious and reasonably well laid out. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of bedding and pillows. The decor was pleasant, but neutral.

There was a bathroom and separate shower room, both of which were immaculately clean. The bathroom was bright and well ventilated and well laid out with plenty of space. There were plenty of towels and these were very nice and fluffy.

The shower room, however, was one of the areas where the hotel let itself down. The shower room was a little dingy. There was nowhere to hang a towel and the water pressure in both shower heads was best described as weak. The rain shower head was had a number of jets blocked with limescale.

I did not like having a separate bathroom and shower room at opposite sides of the bedroom, but that is a matter of personal taste.

The water temperature in the shower was also prone to fluctuate meaning it was wise to keep one hand on the temperature just in case.

There was a little noise coming in from the square until the early hours of the morning, but it was not a disturbing noise; more of a background noise.

The bedroom had tea and coffee making facilities, but strangely, for a room designed for two people, had only one of each type of drink offered, so when making tea, when both of us would have chosen English Breakfast, there was only one English Breakfast tea bag. Similarly, when we came to have coffee there was only one caffeinated and one de-caffeinated coffee sachet.

The breakfast experience was the biggest issue to my mind. Upon entering the breakfast area there are no staff to greet you, show you a table and ask if you would like tea or coffee. The tables are not laid out and it is up to guests to find their own cutlery and napkins. For a hotel of the Scandic Palace's quality I would have expected that as a given.

The breakfast room was reasonably spacious, with sufficient room between tables and no difficulty finding a table. However, we were there in the low season. The high season may be a very different story.

The buffet area was my main problem. To say it was cramped is putting it mildly. The breakfast room was busy, but not overcrowded However, the buffet area was more akin to a rugby scrum. Six people in the buffet area and it becomes difficult to move around, and given where the coffee machine is, moving around with hot cups of coffee can be a challenge.

There is a reasonable choice of food, both hot and cold, but it is not spectacular, and a lot of the items are cramped together.

There are limited staff on duty, and those that are on duty seemed to spend as little time as possible in the dining area.

Overall, breakfast needs some improvement.

The check-out was friendly and efficient. The bill was checked before being confirmed by the receptionist and we were asked if everything had been good. The left luggage facility seemed secure and was offered without us asking.

The hotel does not have a cafe which was a bit of a disappointment, but there is a Starbucks almost next door.

It is a lovely hotel in many respects and the front of house staff were a credit to the hotel.

Dear Paul M,

Thank you very much for staying with us at Scandic Palace Hotel, and as well for forwarding you feedback.

Of all your positive comments I am super happy to see the Team Members extended a solid service experience - they do indeed go out of their way to make our guests welcome and at home. Knowing they will deeply appreciate your warming comments, I thank you on their behalf!

My apologies on the lime scale, which is a common problem in Copenhagen - we continuously deep clean the shower room in order to give the best impressions possible, however I´m sorry we did not meet our normal standards in this case.

The city of Copenhagen is working hard to limit the lime scale hitting end-users, however we are at this point hoping for better solutions. To limit the issue, we have installed our own system to help the situation best possible.

I regret that we did not succeed in extending you the normal very positive breakfast experience - often we get praises on the breakfast, however your points do make sense, and will be on the table when renovating the area. In the meantime your points on service and laid tables will be highlighted and dealt with immediately.

We like Starbucks as well, however next time, please visit the Palace Bar located in the lobby - they serve EXCELLENT coffee, light meals and amazing cocktails in the evenings.

All the best and thank you for such a detailed and relevant review of your stay!
