This is a nice little museum near the Malmo city centre. Friendly and helpful staff. Free entrance which is rarity these days. There is also a small cafe inside the museum.
Exhibition, Malmö is burning and The Social, going on now is not worth the visit.Feels almost like an exhibition work from a high school. Not even the museum shop and the closed cafe on Saturdays is something to be delighted with.
I live round the corner (literally) from Moderna Museet, it's an important part of my life, as I often go there to try and clear my head, have a bit of piece and quiet, get inspiration etc. unfortunately they get their exhibitions wrong as often as they get them right. The building is a really interest, and nice space, if there isn't enough of it. I've seen some really well curated exhibits, and some awfully cluttered, messy and disjointed ones. It is worth a visit if you're in the area and want to look at art / get away from noise, especially as admittance is free, just don't expect a lot.
Malmöhus and Malmöhus slott is a medieval castle situated in the city of Malmö which nowadays houses museums. Before that the building was a prison for several years.
The museum houses a major collections of Nordic modern and contemporary art, now containing about 40,000 works, covering the period from the 16th century to the present day
Great design and art, which makes you reflect and just enjoy yourself. Do not forget to buy a poster in the shop!
The building itself is nice with nice volumes inside for art but the (one) exhibition on view when we visited was, unfortunately, disappointing.
