Many years ago I stayed in the sister hotel the LORD NELSON for which reason we returned to the same group. The location is excellent but the hotel needs a good refurbishing especially a paint brush. Bath room amenities were minimal and not of good quality ( but then we always take back up soap and shampoo). Our room was a very good size but not much space to hang clothes.
This is a hotel for tourists, which we were this time around, and definitely not for business trips.

Wonderful location. Our room was on 4th floor and had an old world charm with complete modern conveniences. Ample size room .. comfortable bed. You will feel immersed in the history and charm of the old city. It is everything it promised.

Room Tip: Easy walk from train staion .. pricey cab ride so unless you have enormous luggage ,, walk. No one...

The hotel is located in the old town. This is very touristy, but we were tourists, and as such I think this is a good place for a short stay in an idiosyncratic non chain set up. The staff are friendly and helpful, Breakfast is good, as are the beds and lighting in the room. The room we were in on the second floor was small, looked out at a wall only a few feet away, and disconcertingly the windows opposite had a direct line of site into our room. Happily I never saw anyone in the other building! Also no air con, and I suspect it could get very overheated in hot weather. We had to have the windows open, and this makes it a bit noisy until fellow tourists decide it is bed time. If travelling in winter this of course would not matter. The hotel is crammed with nautical bits and pieces from or about the 17th/18th century, with a focus on nelson/hamilton. Some of these are quite fascinating, others give the place a slight feeling of dilapidation.

This is an excellent hotel. Clean, charming in decor; personal and attentive service and a lovely room allocated to us on the fourth floor which we understnad to be the only floor with air conditioning. The breakfast was excellent and tastefully presented. The only ( slight) gripe is the absence of coffee making facilties in the room but this seems a common non-feature of Scandanavian hotels.

My wife and I stayed here during a business trip in August - Sept., 2010. The hotel was assigned by the meeting consolidator.

The positives:

- It is a quaint, very old building in Gamla Stan, just a stone's throw from the Royal Palace and a short walk by parliament to the shopping of Drottninggatan. You can get anywhere in Gamla Stan in less than 10 minutes walk - lots of good shopping, bars, and restaurants
- Helpful, courteous staff. No problems there.
- Very good breakfast included in the price.

The "less than positives":
- Smallest room we had on the trip; the bath was clean, but small, and did have nice toiletries.
- Some street noise from our second floor room, overlooking an alley.
- OK bed.!
- Expensive for what you get

While I probably wouldn't choose this property on my next trip, I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone from staying here.

This charming small hotel is a refurbished old building in the middle of Gamla Stan, the ancient section of Stockholm. Our room was comfortable and nicely furnished and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The Gamla Stan location has pluses and minuses. The plus is that you are in the center of the city within walking distance of most attractions. The minus is that the hotel is just around the corner from a walking street loaded with tourists and tacky souvenir shops.

This hotel is located in Gamla Stan - the 'old town', almost next door to the King's Palace. Stockholm is all peninsulars joined by bridges and the old town is a delightful network of shops and cobbled streets with a convenient T-bahn (underground) that takes you one stop away to central Stockholm. The hotel is a treasure trove of collected artefacts mostly seagoing related. Named after Lord Nelson's lady friend, on arrival as a solo woman I received a welcome ladies gift basket. Most interesting decor and attention to detail in the attractive though small room with perfect en suite facilities. My room overlooked the narrow cobbled street where passersby and horse drawn carts and horses were evident from time to time but I found it very quiet despite that. Around the corner from teh King's palace - though do take the ferry to visit teh palace where the Royal family live which has wonderful gardens. The hotel is also close to many eateries plus many independent shops - though some very touriest oriented - though you can soon work out where the real value is located in the local craft outlets. Though my trip was initially for business I moved to this hotel to have an extended weekend stay as a special treat. Sweden is an expensive location and the hotel was at the very top end of my budget perhaps even beyond but totally worth it. Breakfast was pleasant though not very accommodating of vegetarians apart from eggs. There is also a special spa facility which has some historical origins though I did not make use of it.
