This was really cool, and huge! Which seems to be the case in a lot of museums in Sweden and Norway. They go on and on. Not in a bad way though.

We arrived and realised it was free for under 25s which was a big bonus for us! There were many expeditions and a map and toilets and basically everything you need. There was also a children's part which little children (or immature adults) would love.

I absolutely loved the viking exhibits, including a boat, jewellery & many more different bits steeped in history & well worth a read. I now know the story behind mistletoe! Proper sinister.
It’s 40 kronor (about 4£/€) to get in but the ticket gives you access to about 5 other museums in the city and lasts all year. There were other parts that were really interesting, the 1700’s exhibits were Grand with some fantastic clothing. Of course, there were exhibits more relevant to the Swedes and it’s over 4 floors. Big cloak room and free toilets on level -1. It’s open on a Saturday too which was novel for Gothenburg

Well laid out museum which was based on the V and A in London architecturally. Perfect for a rainy day. Different sections showing the history of the city and its inhabitants. All signage was in English as well as Swedish. Nice cafeteria .Toilets and lockers to leave coats etc.

I came to learn more about the history of the city. This musyhas an excellent display on the birth of the city that easily flows into modern times. As a bonus, there are displays on prehistoric people I the area and most of the pieces of an ancient Viking ship that washed out of a mud bank. This exhibit on the Vikings was very interesting. These sections all had signs in both Swedish and English. A few other sections of the museum did not always have signs in English. I spent about two hours exploring the museum. The building has a central courtyard but not all sections of each floor are open so it was a little confusing at times. The museum also has a small cafe and gift shop. It is located on the grand canal in the old India Trade Company building which has its own interesting history. This is well worth a stop for those who want learn more about the city.

The entrance for people under 25 years is free. I learnt a lot about Gotheburgs history. It's the perfect program for a day of bad weather.
