Lovely Esplanade & Park. This was very close to our hotel in the centre of Helsinki. It is lined on either side by lots of benches where locals and tourists all mingle together. It seems to have a real buzz about it, with a couple of restaurants at one end and people either taking the sunshine during the day or just enjoying the atmosphere in the evening. A lovely place to sit and relax, but also to mix and chat with locals. Feels a very safe place to wander at any time of day.
There is a large statue of Johan Ludwig Runeberg who was the national poet of Finland. Many people stop to have photos taken there.
