Lovely Esplanade & Park. This was very close to our hotel in the centre of Helsinki. It is lined on either side by lots of benches where locals and tourists all mingle together. It seems to have a real buzz about it, with a couple of restaurants at one end and people either taking the sunshine during the day or just enjoying the atmosphere in the evening. A lovely place to sit and relax, but also to mix and chat with locals. Feels a very safe place to wander at any time of day.

There is a large statue of Johan Ludwig Runeberg who was the national poet of Finland. Many people stop to have photos taken there.

Nice small park to walk through near the harbor. Ice cream available for kids. I wouldn't worry if you miss it though. Nothing extraordinary.

Its very cosy street and have LOT of decent restaurants but has too much global and local tourists just wondering around. Also facers harass people and beg people to donate their money for charity organizations which use most of their money for salaries of their staff.

What a beautiful sight. One can only imagine what it was like in years gone by. The birds were singing, the sun was shining and the sound of an accordion made it magical

This city park is a few blocks long. Walking though the park was lovely, as all the annuals were at their peak at this time of year. Be sure to take in the architecture on both sides of the park; the old buildings are really splendid. Some of the embassies border the park, and this is where the high-end shopping is located.
