Hotel itself is great, it downgraded only because of the location but I guess some people have to work around.

Room is spacious and clean, bathroom was always in pristine condition. Free internet through Vlan is available, wifi is chargeable though..

Breakfast was simply great, ++++ was the daily smoked salmon served. Not the supermarket sliced thing but real salmon steak smoked !! well done. The quality and range of bread was also very good.

There is a parking option charged 14eur/day
Staff was very helpful and friendly, offering option to collect points and get free nights, etc...A coworker forget her ring in her room after we checked out and they found it back.

Location: that THE down side, not so much going on since there are mostly offices around and you will need a ride downtown for more agreable urban landscapes.

Stayed there for business for a week. I wouldnt go back for the location but thanks to that hotel experience I would definitely go again for a Holiday inn

All is all hotel highly recommended if you go for business in the area

Stayed one night in Sep. 11 and this is like any other Holiday inn. The reception and resturant are nice hang out places, but the rooms are quite cramped, but they are on the same time practical and have everything you need. Free wifi and a minibar always helps. The beds are good and the location is close to the airport and very quiet.
Its not a place I would go as a couple, but as a business traveller the place is fine.

The hotel which is located inside Central Exhibition Area is a true business hotel. Not romantic, not luxury but very convinient.
The rooms needs some renovation but they are comfortable.

There is a tram station where you can take a ride to the city center in 15 minutes.

Nice hotel in Helsinki. Nice breakfast, nice size rooms, what you would expect for Holiday Inn. Near train station.

Walking distance to most things, we took taxi's when needed. a boat ride is worth a trip while here also.

Location: great! easy to reach from the airport (bus, taxi, train), next to the railway and bus station but you do not hear noise, close to the city center, the botanical garden and other attractions, the hotel staff can provide quite nice brief maps but you can have a great choice of this in the Tourist Info centers.
Room: quite small but ok, clean and nice (fits 2).
Hotel restaurant: breakfast was good, but not a great choice of food at lunch time (we had lunch there for a week and it was the same stuff every day).
Tip: watch out for the hokey tournaments! It is the national sport and proudly watched by the locals, so matches can be a source of great excitement (in the streets and the lobby of the hotel as well).
Price: quite high, but compare to other hotels, because Helsinki is expensive!

A standard business hotel located just next to the Helsinki fair center (and hockey arena). It is not in the city center and the surroundings are essentially dead, but if you do business in the district, it is a good spot. The hotel is of a congress type and features plenty of hallroom space - obviously dimensioned to take the massive guest numbers when e.g. fairs are going on. When there is NOT a fair, you will perceive the hotel as very empty which might not be a bad thing. You do not live here to socialise with people anyhow.
The check-in was still slow (only one man on duty) when I checked in at 23. The rooms are standard size and very clean - like you alsmost always get in Finland. Nice bathroom even if the sewer could not take the water generated by the shower. Bed of good quality and the hotel is also quiet at night (at least when I stayed there). There is basically no traffic at night, but some noise from the morning traffic as the ring motorway and railway is close.
Breakfast is a bit better than Finnish ordinary with fresh bread and an OK selection. Only plain coffee available, but the taste is OK.
The gym is smallish (6-8 machines) and not top notch, but you get it by yourself. There is really no place in the surroundings for taking a run - only buildings & concrete.
Good value for money - 84 EUR for a two bed room (with only me in it) incl. breakfast.

I have stayed several times at this hotel; once on the Executive floor and several times in one of the suites. The staff has always been marvelous and the rooms spotless and very comfortable. The location is superb for activities at the Fair Centre...one needn't even go out of doors to get there. There are a few other restaurants within a 10 minute walk ( such as the Spanish restaurant Seville in the Sokos Pasila Hotel ) but the Terra Nova at the Holiday Inn has changed the menu and it is a good place for a decent meal. There is also a food market and an Alko a few minutes walk away. We always use the outdoor terrace for our refrigerator if we need the room altho one must make sure the goodies don't freeze.
The decor is quite in concert with Finland.........dark woods, earth tone marble in the baths and very efficient use of space. The sauna is wonderful although we met our match when two Finnish women entered and rocketed the temperature right up. Being the amateurs at sauna that we were, we didn't last long.
The breakfast buffet is marvelous with yogurts, berries, cereals, bacon, sausages, eggs, sliced meats, smoked and pickled fish etc. One of the best I have ever had with something for everyone.
While this hotel is not downtown, there is a tram directly across the street to take you to other areas of the city for a very low price. It is quite close to the train depot if one is going anywhere by train. For the Fair Center, it could not be more perfectly located.
