I liked the cottage. Although, if Finnish people say 'basic' it really is very basic. They do not understand that other Europeans need to have some extra forewarning. It's good to know that there is no water inside the cottage; not only no flush toilet (that is clear from the description: it is an out-house). You also have to walk down to the water's edge of the lake and take a few buckets full up to the house. Also: if you do not use the sauna, and splash around with some water there, there is no other option than to bathe yourself in the lake. The 2-pits gas stove also serves to get hot water to do washing up. The steep ladder to get to the beds is not easy to climb for senior people! No upright standing possible up there either! But don't forget: it is a wonderful experience, it's a very tranquil area and the views of the lake magnificent. I spent a week there solo, not easy, but worth it. But...........more and better instructions early on (in a type of English that is really English!) would have helped a lot.
