This hotel was the best accommodation that we've had in Iceland. It's on a beautiful fjord with an awesome vista. The resto is great and service is with a smile and great enthusiasm. Will definitely stay there next time we're in Iceland.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are good in this place. If you can afford it, rent a guest cottage.

I can't say enough great things about Hotel Glymur! It was our first stop on our Iceland vacation. The staff was warm & welcoming & provided us an early check in after our early arrival. We stayed in a standard suite - it felt like our own little apartment!

The food was outstanding as well. Breakfast provided scrumptious delights and dinner provided a wide variety of options. The view of the outside scenery from the dining room just oozed relaxation.

Finally, the close proximity to the Golden Circle, the Snaefells pennisula, dogsledding on the Langjökull glacier and the hiking trail to Glymur Falls was absolutely perfect.

We stayed 3 nights and were so sad to leave. I encourage all Iceland vacationers to check out Hotel Glymur. You won't be disappointed!

The views from this hotel are absolutely stunning!! Would recommend the individual cabins with their own hot tubs but if you find that a little pricey for your pocket then make sure you ask for a lake view in the standard room. All the rooms are lovely. and unusual with their mezzinaie bedroom and comfortable seating area below. We did struggle with the smell of the shower but you get used to that in Iceland!! All the staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent and it was wonderful to relax in the hot tubs overlooking the lake and mountains when it was still light at midnight!! You will not be dissappointed in this hotel.

Room Tip: The cabins are best or a lake view in standard

Staying at the villa at Hotel Glymur was no doubt a highlight of our honeymoon trip to Iceland. There is so much to recommend. The location is fantastic, the villas are really gorgeous, lots of attention to detail and a really relaxed home away from home. The staff were particularly helpful and very personal. Ragna helped us with our activities and even booked our next accomodation. Helgi is a superb chef who will make your tastebuds sing and everyone in general has a warm genuine smile for you. Wonderful to relax. Also lots of outdoor adventures to do. Hiking is great and also close proximity to Thingvellir. When we come back to Iceland, we are definitely going to stay here again!

Room Tip: The villas are truly fantastic.

Loved every minute of our time @ Glymur. Villa was well furnished and well maintained. Loved the shower (except the sulphur smell). If you go to Iceland stay here and get a villa. Cannot review the food as we did not eat here. Setting was amazing and what a way to relax in a geothermally heated hottub and watch the Nothern Lights.

We spent 2 nights in one of the villas in mid-February. The location and views are second to none and the villa was beautifully decorated and well equipped, although one of the bedroom's heating was a bit hit and miss. The satff were all extremely helpful and the food was of a good quality. We booked through a travel company and hadn't realised that the villas were indeed self-catering in the truest sense of the word- if you wanted the room cleaned or the beds made you had to pay extra. It was also a little disappointing that all the kitchen equipment was there, but no milk, sugar, tea or drinking water that you get in hotels. Overall though we would recommend.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a weekend stay at the Hotel Glymur. We had the villa romance for a two night stay. We have never seen such a well designed villa before, gorgeous furnishings and very stylish. Nice views over the Whalefjord. Very well equipped kitchen area with everything you need and a coffee machine : )

Very comfy beds and a lovely shower room, shame there was no bath though. But outside there is a geo-thermally heated hot tub, which is always a perfect temp. overlooking the mountains and the fjord. Perfect sitting in the hot tub at night gazing at the starts with a glass of champagne. Unfortunately no Northern Lights this time.

You learn to get used to the smell of sulphur from the hot tub and the shower!

Very nicely decorated with some great artwork in the villa.

A hire car is needed to get about. I highly recommend a drive to the Snaefellsness peninsula, which is an all day trip, but well worth it. The area is called "mini-Iceland" as it contains a sneak preview of all the landscape from the rest of Iceland.

Hotel restaurants does good food. A bit over-priced for what you get, although we had a lovely lobster (which is what they call Langoustine in Iceland I believe) bisque. Very friendly service in the hotel, and were very very helpful.

It's a good location if you want to get away from it all and is only a 50min drive from Reykjavik. The nearest supermarket is in Akranes about 20mins drive away.

We loved it there an really did not want to leave. We are most definitely going to return in the future as two nights was not nearly enough.
