“Great Location, Friendly Staff”
Reviewed 8 April 2012

The front desk staff is friendly and accommodated a number of miscellaneous requests (they seemed to be fluent in several languages). Our room was small but well appointed with contemporary fixtures and was operating-room clean. The breakfast bar (included in our package) was nice with a variety of fruits, breads, eggs and some meat options (and staffed by courteous and efficient staff). The hotel has some conference room facilities and there was at least one business group making use of them while we were there. The other two couples with us stayed at a hipster type boutique hotel closer to the city center. It was a lot noisier, seemed crowded and was more expensive than the Radisson. We went in December, so the hotel exuded a level of calm that may not be present during high European vacation season. For a stay in Reykjavik, this is a great option, and I can see us going back at some point.

Room Tip: Rooms that face the inner courtyard have no view if that matters to you.

this hotel is about a 10+ minute walk from town, but it's a nice walk. the hotel is clean, the staff is nice and our room was comfortable. the breakfast is very good - fresh foods and lots of choices. if you're driving, there's plenty of parking. if you're doing day tours, you get picked up at the hotel, but consider being dropped off downtown for easier access for lunch or dinner. if you want a snack, there's a great hot dog truck ("Bæjarins beztu") by the harbor that shouldn't be missed. it's a nice little city - take the time to walk the streets. the downside, oddly and sadly, i didn't find icelanders to be very friendly. i add that comment not to take away from our beautiful trip, but just to make others aware of the cultural difference perhaps.

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. Everything at the hotel is very nice but I still think they need to do some updating in the rooms. The walls were banged up just like last time. But they do keep it very clean & that is the most important thing to me. The staff is also very nice. You have a great view from the hotel and it's a nice walk down to the main square.

Dear guest.

Thank you for your comments.
I am happy to tell you that we are in the process of renovating the hotel. Regarding the rooms, we have already done soft renovations on some of the rooms like painted the walls and changed window and this is an on-going process.
We are in the process of painting all hallway walls and changing carpets in common areas. We have also painted the outside of the hotel.
In addition two of four elevators will be changed this summer.

We thank you for choosing our hotel and look forward to welcome you again.

Best regards

The hotel is slightly out of town, but we walked in most nights and it only took about 10 minutes. The hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was really good with a varied selection. The only downside was it was very hot in the rooms but I think that was because the weather was warmer than usual!

A great place to stay!

Room Tip: We were on the top floor underneath the restaurant, lovely views and no noise despite the restaurant...

this hotel was very comfortable. The walk into town was easy but in severe weather it could prove tricky. The heating in the bedrooms was hot, the food, especially the breakfast, was excellent and the bar staff kind enough to remind us of Happy Hour offers! Slight mix-ups over the bill were quickly resolved. All staff were exceedingly friendly and accomodating.

The hotel is middle of the road on quality and the breakfast is definitely not worth the extra cost each day. We were on the 5th floor and the the elevators on our end were broken for two days - had to either walk up and down or go to the other end of the hotel. Sat night there were a couple of parties and the band was so LOUD that there was absolutely no way to sleep. They played until 2:15 AM and we had to get up at 4:30 AM to catch our flight back. The front desk really wanted to help but there was nothing they could do. It was a miserable way to end a trip to a great country. I would definitely stay elsewhere.

The Hilton is a much better value all around.

Room Tip: Get a room far away from the main elevators when you enter the building from the front desk. The noi...

Dear Guest.
We thank you for staying at Radisson BLU Saga hotel, we take all feedback very seriously and we thank you for your time to write the review. We are very sorry to hear that our Super- breakfast buffet did not meet your expectation, but we follow Radisson Blu guidelines and standards. Regarding the elevators, we apologies for the inconvenience caused but we are in the process changing them which will be completed in eight weeks time. Unfortunately that weekend we had to close the two elevators that we are changing due to a technical problem. We are very sorry to hear that you could not sleep, but like many hotels we do have ballrooms in the hotel which can be rented out for private functions. Our ballrooms are located on the 1st and 2nd floor and as our guestrooms are on the 4th floor an above, private functions generally do not cause an inconvenience. We also have a strict time limit until 2AM which we do our very best to uphold.
We hope you will have the time to visit Iceland again in the future and I sincerely hope you will give us another chance.

With best regards.

This hotel is nothing special with average to below average service. We stayed 3 nights. The internet was supposed to be included but the ethernet cord was missing in the room and they could not provide another one. Our overnight flight arrived early in the morning from Canada but could not get a room till 3pm. Some other passengers got theirs at 9am. They said the hotel was busy but there was only 6 cars in the parking lot.!
The restaurant food was below average. The breakfast was good but overpriced at $27.
The room was hot so we ended keeping the window open that resulted in interrupted sleep due to road noise.
The hotel is a mile away from downtown which is for the most part a pleasant walk.
