“Modern and Spacious Apartment, Worth Every Single Penny.”
Reviewed 26 March 2012

For your information, there are 7 locations of Apartment K but they have 1 check-in location and the bus/taxi driver SHOULD know it. The one I stayed is just in front of Monte Carlo bar/club/casino and surrounded by many shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. I believe it was the busiest street in Reykjavik. Ollie (if I spell the name correctly) was the one welcomed us from Apartment K when we arrived and show us the way to our apartment. He said the street is a "party street" and we proved it right. It was very noisy during the weekend and full of drunk youngsters until early in the morning.

The apartment was very spacious for 2 persons, very modern and fun. The wifi worked perfectly and we even got a balcony. The best part is that it is very easy to reach the tour office where we took Iceland golden circle tour, northern light mystery tour and Blue Lagoon tour. One thing that would make our stay even better is if there were some tea/coffee/sugar provided but nevertheless I would recommend this accommodation for everyone.

Stayed with Apartment K for a week and we were pleasantly surprised with how modern, clean and fresh our apartment was. It resembled an IKEA showroom and we were provided with all the amenities we could have wished for! 3D TV, wireless interent, cooking facilities and even coffee and tea were provided in the cupboards. We had a very comfortable stay and the people who worked there were extremely kind and helpful. Also the location was perfect on the main street in Reykjavik, with all of the high street shops and restaurants on our door step! Perfect for travellers on business, or sight seeing and couples. We felt at home and would definitely recommend your stay there, its great value.

The accommodations, amenities, decor, price and SERVICE I happily rate as the highest I have experienced while renting an apartment situation while traveling anywhere in the world - ever! For our late January stay, we did note an early arrival while booking with an online service. When the van brought us pre-6AM to the office, we anticipated a wait when calling to report our arrival. Kathy (one of the owners) drove up in less than two minutes. They had anticipated our arrival and had our upgraded apartment ready (this wont happen in peak season, please realize - as we were told). The bedrooms were huge, oh so comfortable beds, close to shopping making the kitchen highly useful with ultra modern stove, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, espresso maker, AND all utensils and to my happy surprise - herbs, spices, cooking oils, and espresso beans! At this point, I half expected a cow tethered out back for fresh milk. Kathy marked our map with suggestions to all our questions, and as this was our first trip, there were many which she happily gave us multiple options. Though art appreciation is a matter of taste, the sheer whimsy, attention to detail and use of space should make anyone and everyone smile.

Throughout our stay, the staff responded to any request promptly, efficiently and cheerfully. This is a destination within a destination - well done!

These people cancelled our Expedia reservation (which had been made months previously) at 2 days notice. Inexcusable. I would recommend reconfirming directly with the apartment managers if you do book. Very stressful experience.

Expedia rebooked us at the Luna Hotel apartments which was excellent. See other review.

We stayed in Apartment K in a deluxe studio for a few nights. The apartment is well appointed, complete with everything you need to make your own meals. There is a Bonus near by which you can get groceries from (look for the funny pink pig logo) so that helps cut down on expenses. We got a great deal on the apartment by booking early. In fact it ended up being the cheapest but nicest (by far) place we stayed in Iceland.

The shower is probably one of the things I will miss most about Iceland! Beautiful stone work and various shower heads, complete with heated towel rack. A great place to wind down after a long day of sight seeing. We didn't stay here on the weekend since previous reviews noted that the Icelanders tend to party allllllll night. Even so, there was the occasional drunken group passing by noisily.

The one complaint I would have is that it was REALLY hard to find. There is not a sign on this place, just a small label on a buzzer that cannot really be seen unless you are standing right in front of it. We were extremely tired, having landed at 7am after a 8 hour flight, yet not checking in until 3pm so the difficulty in locating the place was no met with good humor especially since it turns out we walked passed it numerous times. In any case we felt much better after we checked in and had a good sleep on the comfy bed.

Just one note to make- the hot water smells pretty funky to folks not used to the geothermal sufur-y smell, this may put you off of drinking the water. Not to worry though, the hot water and cold water come from different sources (cold from underground springs) and the cold is very good to drink. Just make sure you let it run for a few seconds to get the hot water out. Also- make sure you cook and make coffee with the cold water to avoid the interesting flavor of sulfur.

Stayed 3 nights in a delux studio, very funky decor, well equipped kitchen and we thoroughly enjoyed the huge double shower with jets! Free wifi was also very handy. On arrival the staff were incredibly helpful with tour bookings and transfers etc, would stay there again.

Everything about our stay was just lovely. The staff/owner was so helpful and friendly. We stayed in a studio apartment, which had a huge double bed, sofa, TV with satellite, dining room table/chairs and a funky stone walled bathroom/shower with a clear door but it was just me and my boyfriend so it was fine. The apartment was really clean and beautifully decorated, modern chic. The kitchenette was super equipped, even with an espresso machine. Towels were always changed and the rooms were cleaned often. Its great for self caterers who are on the go but as it was so lovely you often want to stay in and cook/chill after a long day of sight seeing. I highly recommend K apartments. Special hello to Charlie, the Owners dog, who was absolutely gorgeous...
