Overall had a good stay, great location and our seaview room 512 had excellent view
Room was very clean but found wardrobe a pain..as it's back to front not from side to side and hardly any draw space, the room was spacious and a set of drawers would have been great.the room was quiet however the constant buzz from the air con unit was a distraction but we got used too it, a poor sleeper might not
Great fridge and tea making facilities replenished daily
Breakfast decent choice but the hot items were hardly ever hot so not appetising at all
The chef made excellent poached eggs. Coffee is brought to table but had to send back most times as not hot. A good cheese selection and plenty of cakes for the sweet tooth
Loud music played at breakfast which was a pain....prefer a bit of nice background music , not feeling like I'm in a bar !
No car park ..nearest 5 min walk away
Had the Saturday night Buffett/BBQ, it was fantastic, had lovely table overlooking sea great choice of food and BBQ all cooked to order, staff were brilliant and so helpful in explaining all the choice of food as no labels so sometimes didn't know what things were.
Reception staff bit hit n miss.. some lovely some not so but on the whole couldn't complain we soon learnt who the more friendly ones were
One big draw back....stinking fag smoke ....we were unfortunate to have smokers below and to the side of us so when we sat on the balcony sometimes had to come in and shut door as engulfed in the stinking stuff and it would fill the room..but nothing we can do really
We would stay again...we know the drawbacks but for location it was very good

Room Tip: Room 512 great view but noise from air con on roof if you light sleeper

The Calypso Hotel is a family-run hotel and it sure shows. Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff, they always had a smile and a word for you even though they were busy. The Calypso is situated on the seafront at Marsalforn. We had a large room with a balcony overlooking the sea. This is a small town with a couple of supermarkets and some bars and restaurants - a quite laid-back place. The rooftop bar and swimming pool is very relaxing and the views are spectacular, especially as the sun sets. As regards the restaurant and food, I cannot praise the hotel enough. We had first-class attention and service at all times and everything was done perfectly. I wish to congratulate the gentleman in charge of the restaurant who certainly ran a tight ship!
Excellent Service by all. Thank you for a great stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a Bay View room

Awaiting the taxi for the journey home,I can only praise the efficiency and friendliness of all the staff under the guidance of Mr Rapa.He endeavours to speak with every guest and learns how the standard of service could be taken to an even higher level.Breakfasts are now running more smoothly with individual tea/coffee pots and milk jugs brought to each table ,as requested by guests. Each evening the four course dinner is so beautifully presented you feel that you are dining out in a city restaurant for a special occasion. The international cuisine ,prepared by the talented team of chefs provides an exciting choice every day.Why not enjoy a special treat and have Mr Rapa display his expertise with the flambé pans and cook at your table? The Calypso is a wonderful experience and it's increasing popularity means that early booking is advisable. There are always people, like me, who have already booked for 2018.

Stayed in a 4th floor suite whch had great views over the bay and also had a sea view and we enjoyed the stunning sunsets. The well decorated room had a comfy bed, With nice food at breakfast and the evening menu had many choices.
We found all the staff friendly. Many improvements were noticed since our visit last year.
The Manager Mr.Rapa takes time out to talk to the guests and is continuing to try to improve the hotel taking on board their feedback.
We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone and thankyou for a relaxing two weeks at the Calypso Hotel

Room Tip: Choosing either a Bay view or Sea view offers stunning views

We stayed here for two weeks recently. It's a great find tucked into the side of Marsalforn. The staff are all pleasant and very helpful, rooms are cleaned to a high standard daily. The bay view rooms are awesome. I love the sun deck on the top floor it's very peaceful and laid back and offers great views of the surrounding area. After you've finished up there, get ready for the evening and watch the sun go down with a drink on the rooftop bar, very nice. Located in the bay it has fantastic access to many wonderful restaurants (it also has a restaurant itself if you don't fancy stepping out). Tea and coffee facilities are available in room along with a/c and ceiling fan to keep you cool.
We took a trip to Malta and asked the concierge to call us a taxi, all done with no fuss and promptly. The only drawback about this fantastic hotel is that the bathrooms could do with an upgrade. Not to say they are in bad disrepair, just showing their age a bit. And finally. The coffee. Both in the room and at breakfast.. it's not great. Have tea.

Room Tip: Bay view rooms offer great views but bring ear plugs. Echoes of early starting engines can be heard...

The staff are really what make this hotel, they are friendly, helpful, very knowledgeable and will help you with anything. We stayed for 10 days and cannot fault anything at all. The food is what you can expect from a 4 star hotel - a good selection at breakfast and the evening meal was always something different with a varying selection which should cater for any diet/appetite.
The rooms are clean and have everything you could need. Beds are a bit hard but not at all uncomfortable. If you're a people watcher then the bay view rooms are the best, you get a view of the whole bay of Marsalforn and can watch the locals and tourists come and go.
Marsalforn is the 'hub' of Gozo with plenty to do but equally if you want a quiet night to yourself then this is possible too.
If you're an early bird, then watching the sunrise over the 3 hills is a must and a climb up to Tas-Salvatur provides spectacular views - but watch out for the last 10 foot or so, it's a bit precarious !
The day trip around the island with Midas II Cruises is a great day out, with a stopover for lunch and a swim at Comino Blue Lagoon and at only 35 euros is great value in my opinion.
To sum up, this is a fantastic hotel, with amazing views from the rooftop bar and terrace, the perfect place for a cocktail (alcoholic or non-alcoholic!) to watch the sun go down over this beautiful island.

Room Tip: Bay view rooms are best in my opinion
