I stayed here after reading the NY Times 36 Hours in Malta article. The hotel was beautiful and situated just a short walk from the main shopping area and 5 minutes from the bus area. The rooms were well appointed and nothing was amiss. The team at the hotel was very helpful. Only downside is that the hotel was relatively new so taxi drivers were not 100% sure where to go when given the hotel name, so be sure to have the address.

A unique place in a historical palace, full of services and elegant details. Position in the city center. The breakfast is for all tastes. Recommended to spend romantic days. The price is not so cheap but the value matters.

We enjoyed three nights at beautiful Palazzo Consiglia. Our room was Retromoda situated on the second floor with a window overlooking the courtyard. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bedding, towels etc of luxurious quality. The ensuite is unusual as it is open to the bedroom, but the toilet and shower cubicles are fully enclosed by wall to ceiling glass. As can be seen from photos on the website there are curtains which ensure some privacy.

However when drying or dressing in the bathroom there is no privacy from the room itself so make sure you travel with someone you are very comfortable with! That, and use a peg, which we did to hold the curtains together - when not wishing to be exposed. It would have made more sense to have curtains which completely close. Not a big deal but worth noting.

The staff at the hotel were so friendly and hospitable. Nothing was too much trouble. They were kind enough to allow a late check out, and organised a harbour tour for us and our transfers from/to the airport. Alena and Rhea were outstanding as were all the maids, and the staff at breakfast. Breakfast was good and the coffee reasonable.

We enjoyed a glass of wine and a snack on the rooftop area where the view was stunning. The hotel is convenient to everything in Valletta - which has quickly become one of our favourite cities in the world. It is truly breathtaking and we would encourage anyone to visit Malta and stay at Palazzo Consiglia. We also managed a trip to Medina using the local bus, also highly recommended.

There are still some teething problems with a new hotel like the lift not working, and leaking from the shower into the bathroom. In time these will be sorted but if you can manage stairs then please don't wait. You must book to stay at this wonderful hotel. Highly recommended!

Thank you for such an informative review on our Palazzo.
If I could highlight that the curtains in each of our bedrooms have a cord, which when pulled, will close the curtains together for total privacy. The current elevator which is currently not in use will be replaced between the 15th & 21st January with another more reliable model.
Meanwhile we are delighted that your overall stay at the Palazzo was indeed a most enjoyable one.

We look forward to having another opportunity to welcome you at Palazzo Consiglia.

A hotel that is centrally located with a very professional staff. It is about 5-7 minute walk from the bus area and inside the city walls.

The only issue is the hygiene of the breakfast area with smell of raw eggs. I think the dishwashing facility is improperly set up as this odor was persistent over several days.
Finally, it would have been more welcoming to have real books on walls instead of painted books on walls.
Definitely would return to this hotel when in Malta but likely will not choose breakfast here.

Thank you for putting forward your concerns. The smell which was present in the lounge area has been resolved as it transpired that the grease trap for water drain filtration installed in the vicinity of the kitchen was not functioning well and would like to put your mind at rest that it never affected our levels of hygiene.
A book shelve is also planned to be set up in the library walled room shortly.

Meanwhile we all look forward to having another opportunity to welcome you at Palazzo Consiglia.
