I didn’t expect this to be so interesting, I was amazed, extremely old shipwreck and it’s contents on display set with a very old castle. There is a cafe in the centre which was very welcomed. Good trip!!

This is one of the main exhibits within the castle and it is well worth visiting. The craft was wrecked off the island back in the mists of time and the exhibits from the crew's work and lives are very interesting.

Spend some time reading all the information about this wreck. I just wonder what else lies under the seas around Kyrenia - there must be more.

We did this as part of the castle tour, it was very interesting and not expensive to get into. The entry to the castle covers all other features.

We visited this sad little museum/exhibit with Turkish friends from Istanbul. It is indeed a very ancient shipwreck, recovered from the seabed outside Kyrenia Harbour by amateur divers. It has been installed in an air-conditioned/climate controlled room in Kyrenia/Girne Castle, and then sadly, abandoned.
Today it sits in an unremarkable and dusty location, which is often missed by visitors to the castle. There is inadequate signage, inadequate explanation and diagrams, and is in general poorly displayed. The contents of the wreck are on show in dusty display cabinets often with burnt out lamps and very little in the way of description.
This whole exhibition could be so much better, I suggest the curators visit Bodrum Castle in Turkey if they want some indication of how to do things in a more professional manner. But in reality all that is really needed is a little love and attention. The authorities that look after this Castle should be ashamed of themselves, they may not have much money for repairs, but they can pick up the rubbish and do a little housekeeping which costs very little indeed. This shipwreck could be marvellous attraction, and if properly advertised and displayed, bring in considerable revenue.
