Leave plenty of time - this is a big castle. Take care going around the top battlements - no handrails.

Visited Kyrenia on h9liday so had to see the castle. Very cheap entrance fee about 12 Turkish lira. Interesting place and lovely views from the top. Parking nearby if you have a hire car too.

Some of the exhibits , I found very interesting , especially the jewellery & the ancient shipwreck .
Sadly the courtyard is full of weeds & needs a bit of care & tidying up .The Castle itself is quite dangerous as some of the steps are missing to the ramparts & there are no banisters or hand rails . Not suitable for the elderly and you'd have to keep an eye on children as I imagine there are often accidents . Great views over the harbour .
The café will sell you glasses of local wine but do not have any beer .

We walked around the base of the castle. Not very clean with empty bottles strewn around. Huge spot lights fixed around the castle at the base- night view maybe great. Didnt have the energy to explore inside which looked a bit dark. Tickets isuued at the entrance. Lots of dogs around- they follow u around.

Well worth a visit particularly if you enjoy history it is quite well signed and there is a lot to see quite an amazing structure and seeing its development through the ages
Don’t miss the dungeons which were very dramatic
