Staying in a villa in Chlorakas we decided to try here for dinner as it was local. We also thought with it being family run it would be good, but sadly it wasn't.
This was the second restaurant we tried on our holiday and once again we were the only customers. They obviously were not expecting many clients as both the ladies toilets had a few sheets of toilet paper with no more in sight.
We found the woman serving us was quite friendly. Welcomed us in and showed us to a table and gave us menus, took our drinks order and asked if we wanted any bread.
From there things all went a bit mental!
With it being family run, the 4 year old son has to go to work with his mum. He was being a bit of a nightmare and trying to get her attention while she was trying to deal with us and at one point went under the table and was pulling on the table cloth almost knocking all the glasses etc. onto the floor.
We ordered our meal. My husband had some sort of meat and onions. I ordered Mousakka and my son had a cheeseburger. Our little girl was just going to share so we ordered some chips.
When the meals arrived my husbands was fine and he said it was tender, however my son's burger and my Mousakka were both frozen in the middle and had to be sent back. Credit where it's due the homemade chips were amazing.
We did however find ourselves practically babysitting the owners son to give her the ability to be able to serve us as our little one had an app on her tablet which we was particularly taken with.
The cheeseburger came back flat as it had obviously been put in some sort of compressing grill in order to get it all cooked, thus the bun was flat and too hot to handle.
The mousakka albeit now warm didn't have a great flavour which was quite disappointing. It was quite large so I left a chunk of it.
During the conversations the owner had mentioned that one of the cats outside was pregnant. What we didn't realise was just how heavily pregnant the cat was until it started giving birth at the other side of the window from where we were seated! Luckily we don't have weak stomaches! She gave birth to two while we were there.
We went to let the owner know that her cat was giving birth, which seemed to worry her, especially given there was blood. She then asked if the kittens would be fine as they were the result of a brother & sister ...lol
Whilst a bit fascinated with the cat, the woman who did the cooking who came across as very grumpy and had only managed to get one meal out of three hot opened the outside door and scraped the left over mousakka over a balcony, obviously for the cats to eat! Not quite the health & safety standards we are used to for disposal of restaurant waste in the UK!
During one of our conversations with the woman who served us she had mentioned that All Inclusive holidays are ruining the restaurant trade, as people are just not venturing outside of their hotels for food.
Based on our experience however, I'm guessing it will be experiences like ours and the online reviews which will have an impact on trade.
Based on our experience we could not recommend this restaurant. Needless to say we didn't return during our stay, but we did laugh about the evening several times and how bizarre it was.
