Embarrassing....
The Pa amb Tomaquet is typical catalán, you get grilled bread and rub on garlic then tomato, you can then add salt and olive oil to your liking, simple but delicious, those who serve it ready made are cutting corners and usually buy in pre-squashed tomato lowering the quality of the final product as well as taking all the interaction and fun away.
Meats:
Lamb was ordered medium rare, beef ordered well done. The blood you are referring to with the beef is actually "JUS" a sauce obtained by blending chicken and beef stock (both home made) aromatics and wine, then reduced down for over 3h. The whole process takes over 5h.
Any meat well done is already over cooked and therefore tough, we suggest you don't go for beef if you can't eat it max medium. But that's your choice.
The fact that you didn't get dauphinoise potatoe is clearly our mistake. On the other hand you did not get greasy wedges, we make hand cut chips that most our reviewers seem to really appreciate.
Your plates came back pretty empty, all that was left was about 3 chips, a slice of the beef skirt and bones from the lamb. Not even the fat you seem to be complaining about.
If you wouldn't of ate any of it we would understand you're disapproval and wouldn't of charged it.
In any case, it is hard to imagine why anyone would think it is acceptable to go to a restaurant, eat it's food, drink it's wine and think they are in the right not pay their bill or leave a percentage of it...
Once outside, it seems perfectly normal that the chef came to stop you from walking away without paying.
A passer by saw the whole scene and came in to talk about what he had witnessed.
He would of liked to have known if we had your names and where he could find you. Information we didn't have and wouldn't of provided.
He and his wife felt shocked when you (or your friend) started swearing at him when he backed the chef up, agreeing you should act like grown ups and pay your bill, you or your friend then proceeded to walk aggressively and swearing towards him, but failed to reach him by slipping on ice. He also overheard as you swore at the chefs and threat to demolish them on tripadvisor.
Anyone who is talked to the manner this man described you were talking to the chefs would eventually start swearing back.
As soon as the police where mentioned, I am told, that's when you walked away leaving the chefs watching powerless, obliged to go back inside and attend a full restaurant. Maybe because you had indulged a glass too many and would of lost credibility.
There were no complaints from any of the other guests or from the outside dinning area, who I know for a fact where fully oblivious to the whole scene as the outdoor waiter mentioned everyone was to busy enjoying themselves and, that he himself wasn't aware of the whole situation until he noticed the chefs were clearly upset about something and explained it to him.
By the sounds of it we were lucky no one came over to your table as I have no doubt you would of caused a scene regardless of a full restaurant or not.
Obviously it's your word against ours and who ever reads this can make up their own mind based on previous reviews.
It seems to me that some people are just out there looking for any little detail they can possibly find to turn into a complaint and try and get something for free.
I believe it is hard to enjoy a holiday or life with that mind set.
In any case we haven't sacked the chefs as they perform to our satisfaction and our reviews are great.
