Mushroom starter was incredible! The massive prawns amazing too. Tried the trout and the deer stew on two separate occasions and both were delicious. Highly recomended!!!

Love this restaurant, the fact that your seated in the old cow shed is so quaint!
Great food and the portions a good size. Nice to see the couple who had taken over last year making such good improvements. Look forward to returning next year x

The food was average as well as the service, therefore it is just not worth the extra in the price for a quality restaurant.

The environment in the restaurant is nice. The waiters and waitresses seemed to be too busy as it was hard to get service.

Everyone of our group said that the food was ok, but on the average level. As a comparison we used the restaurants we had visited during the week (2 each day).

Of course my point of view is subjective, but would not visit again without a good reason. Just not worth the money. Our group of 7 paid roughly 100e more when eating in this restaurant, than we normally pay.

Sorry that our restaurant was full and that our waiters/resses are just humans trying their best.

Your rating seems a bit harsh when compared to similar ratings you've given.
You say food was OK on an average level still you rate below average. What exactly was the issue??
It seems to me you're more upset by the "lack" of attention than the food.
The world revolves around the sun, not a person.
But of course, this is just my subjective point of view.

You never seem to mention what you eat, but comparing the price of a Filet steak with foie, a local reared veal entrecote, a baked fresh trout stuffed with almonds, lemon, thyme and wrapped in serrano ham, to the price of a Burger or a plate of pasta.....well, there will be a difference indeed.
Having just one course opposed to having three courses and wine will also make your bill more expensive. Was that the case?

Anyway sorry we weren't up to YOUR standards.
Can't please everyone.

They say time is money.
I just spent 20min replying your review and just realized...
It was Not worth my time.

Firstly I would like to thank the staff at Cort de Popaire for an amazing meal tonight. We had an superb meal on Friday, so much so we decided to return the following night for my birthday.

I could not disagree more with the previous review posted. I cannot understand people who spend their entire holiday searching for negatives to shave money of their bill!

I would rate the Cort de Popaire as exceptional. In my opinion it is the best in Soldeu which is a great achievement as the standards are generally high in the town.

I would definitely recommend.

Hello, unfortunately my first review was not allowed to be published on trip advisor due to the very abusive discusting unacceptable language I wrote which both my friend and I experienced first hand at the above restaurant by the two chefs working here.

My friend and I came across this restaurant and were able to get a table for two. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and our Spanish waitress was was nice and recommended dishes to us etc.
We ordered a bottle of red wine some water and the pan con tomato each.
My friend ordered the Lamb chops - very well done with dauphinoise potatoes and veg,I ordered the beef skirt medium to well done with dauphinoise potatoes and veg.

The starters came out and my friend said normally the tomato and garlic are already on the bread etc however we both enjoyed this along with some olives and alioli.
Whilst eating the starters our mains arrived before our starter plates were cleared.

My beef was so rare with blood coming out of it and my friends Lamb chops were under cooked and full of fat and bone. We appreciate Lamb can be fatty but these chops were like scrag ends. Both dishes were accompanied with deep fried fatty wedges as apposed to dauphinoise pototoes and we also had a very small helping of veg each. Both dishes too were Luke warm.
We called over a different waitress and asked why there was no dauphinoise potatoes and and that my beef was so rare and needed grilling off. Also that my friends Lamb chops were full of fat and bone and if there was any chance they could change one of them and be cooked well done.
The waitress checked in the kitchen and came back and said the person who makes the dauphinoise pototes had not turned up that evening!! We explained we were not happy with this and should of been told at the time of ordering.
The waitress took our plates away to sort out the meat when the grill chef bought our plates back approx 10 mins later he dumped them on the table in front of us along with the same cold wedges and veg we already had on our plates. I quickly said can we possibly have some new vegetables before he hastily walked off.
He bought back a bowl and dumped these on the table between us without checking our meat was to our satisfaction. At no point did anyone check and see if our meat was satisfactory.
My friends chops had not been changed or hardly grilled and the beef now was so well done it was tough and over cooked!
We then sat at the table for a further 25 mins and nobody approached us, we were trying to get the waitress attention but it seemed as there were bigger tables to sort out we were not as important. We eventually called over our first waitress and explained our dissatisfaction with the poor quality of mains and the standard of service.
She did sympathise with us and said there was no manager to speak to and that they are a group of friends running the restaurant. She said she would speak to the kitchen chef, she could see the amount of food left on our plates.
It took her 20 minutes to come back to us and said there was nothing she could do and that basically we had to pay for the unacceptable food!
We then again explained our total disappointment and said we were happy to pay for the wine water and starters that we had consumed and enjoyed but were not prepared to pay for the diabolical food that was served to us for our mains.
We sat for a further 15 minutes and at no point did anyone else come over to speak to us and see as to why we were not happy satisfied customers.
We at no point raised our voices or lose control over the situation and were very understanding as the restaurant was busy.
After 15 minutes of waiting we left the money on the table for the items consumed €20 and put our coats on and left.
We were outside the restaurant approximately 10 metres away when all of a sudden the two chefs working that night came out and basically said we were not to leave the premises with out paying our bill. (The language used at this point I can not write on trip advisor as it is so aggressive, unprofessional and unacceptable).
Both my friend and I were very upset and as they were hurling abuse at us we explained we had left the money for the items consumed.
We were threatened with the police being called and I agreed as I think the way we were treated etc they would be most interested in!
Whilst trying to talk to the two chefs standing stationary one of he chefs pushed me in the back. I did say to him to not touch me!
My friend then started walking off and suggested she would get a friend to help! I then started to walk off as the language I was being succumbed to was outrageous. I dread to think what the people who were eating in the extended porta cabin bit outside the restaurant must have been thinking.
This incident did have a knock on effect on our holiday.
Both my friend and I work in the customer service industry and if we spoke to people they way we were spoken to we would be sacked!!
We hope to get a reply from the owner of the restaurant regarding our experience.

Embarrassing....

The Pa amb Tomaquet is typical catalán, you get grilled bread and rub on garlic then tomato, you can then add salt and olive oil to your liking, simple but delicious, those who serve it ready made are cutting corners and usually buy in pre-squashed tomato lowering the quality of the final product as well as taking all the interaction and fun away.

Meats:
Lamb was ordered medium rare, beef ordered well done. The blood you are referring to with the beef is actually "JUS" a sauce obtained by blending chicken and beef stock (both home made) aromatics and wine, then reduced down for over 3h. The whole process takes over 5h.
Any meat well done is already over cooked and therefore tough, we suggest you don't go for beef if you can't eat it max medium. But that's your choice.

The fact that you didn't get dauphinoise potatoe is clearly our mistake. On the other hand you did not get greasy wedges, we make hand cut chips that most our reviewers seem to really appreciate.

Your plates came back pretty empty, all that was left was about 3 chips, a slice of the beef skirt and bones from the lamb. Not even the fat you seem to be complaining about.

If you wouldn't of ate any of it we would understand you're disapproval and wouldn't of charged it.

In any case, it is hard to imagine why anyone would think it is acceptable to go to a restaurant, eat it's food, drink it's wine and think they are in the right not pay their bill or leave a percentage of it...

Once outside, it seems perfectly normal that the chef came to stop you from walking away without paying.

A passer by saw the whole scene and came in to talk about what he had witnessed.
He would of liked to have known if we had your names and where he could find you. Information we didn't have and wouldn't of provided.

He and his wife felt shocked when you (or your friend) started swearing at him when he backed the chef up, agreeing you should act like grown ups and pay your bill, you or your friend then proceeded to walk aggressively and swearing towards him, but failed to reach him by slipping on ice. He also overheard as you swore at the chefs and threat to demolish them on tripadvisor.
Anyone who is talked to the manner this man described you were talking to the chefs would eventually start swearing back.
As soon as the police where mentioned, I am told, that's when you walked away leaving the chefs watching powerless, obliged to go back inside and attend a full restaurant. Maybe because you had indulged a glass too many and would of lost credibility.

There were no complaints from any of the other guests or from the outside dinning area, who I know for a fact where fully oblivious to the whole scene as the outdoor waiter mentioned everyone was to busy enjoying themselves and, that he himself wasn't aware of the whole situation until he noticed the chefs were clearly upset about something and explained it to him.
By the sounds of it we were lucky no one came over to your table as I have no doubt you would of caused a scene regardless of a full restaurant or not.

Obviously it's your word against ours and who ever reads this can make up their own mind based on previous reviews.

It seems to me that some people are just out there looking for any little detail they can possibly find to turn into a complaint and try and get something for free.
I believe it is hard to enjoy a holiday or life with that mind set.

In any case we haven't sacked the chefs as they perform to our satisfaction and our reviews are great.
