We stayed here over Easter 2012. We had stayed here in 2006 and had a fanastic time, but our return visit exceeded our expections. The service has improved if at all possible, really excellent nowadays in all departments. We were extremely well looked after throughout the hotel, and it is clear that the staff thoroughly enjoy working for the charming Rigele family.
The standard rooms are more than adequate, well worth while having a south-west-facing balcony, they are huge on the 3rd floor, and the Easter sunshine was thoroughly enjoyable late in the afternoon.
It is a 2 minute walk to the slopes either way, perfectly situated.
The food was first class, and always plenty of it.
The swimming pool is excellent, great fun outside in a snow storm.
It is very easy to stay in the hotel with the excellent bar, and casino & nighclub onsite.
We will definitely be going back.

We boooked the hotel mainly for it's location and it's spa facilities, and were not dissappointed by either. The indoor/outdoor pool was particularly fun especially whilst swimming outside in a toasty 32deg while it was snowing. However, it was the staff that really stood out, everyone that we encountered was personable and went the extra mile in terms of making us feel welcome and at home.

Don't miss eating at the f&f restaurant in the hotel, it's very special indeed.

One criticism though, we had to cut our stay short two days due to personal reasons and when we came to check out they demanded that we pay the entire length of the booking. I know this may be standard practice in many ski-resort hotels, but honestly it wasn't the note we wanted to leave on; especially given that we had to pay for one of the more expensive suites for unused nights.

Room Tip: stayed in two rooms: honeymoon suite, and junior suite w/ sauna. The honeymoon suite was charming, a...

Maybe of the other reviewers have noted the great things about this hotel, but I have to give special notice again to the staff and the level of service that we received. They really look after you and even put our ski boots into the locker before we could get around to doing it.

We only had breakfast included, so we didn't get to try the half board option. When we go next time (and I will stay here again), I think I would get this option because many of the nearby restaurants were totally booked for dinner and didn't have any free tables.

The hotel is just down the street from the Lurzer Alm which is a fun place for Apre-ski, but not so close that there is any noise. The indoor/outdoor pool perfect for relaxing after a day of skiing too.

Obertauern is not the most well-known ski area, but the snow conditions are good because of the altitude and the town is set up really well for skiing. Note that the Rigele Royal is not ski-in/ski-out, but it's not far from the lifts. The location is really ideal for the pre- and post- ski times too.

We went skiing in Obertauern, Austria and stayed at the Rigele Royal Hotel. This owner run Hotel excels in service, efficiency and "Gemutlichkeit". We took the breakfast and dinner option which includes a "snack buffet" in the afternoon. The food was outstanding. The staff is totally dedicated in making your stay seriously comfortable. With the in-house facilities on offer one tends to neglect exploring the village and its charm. The hotel really is so comfortable that you don't want to leave. You gyrate from the slopes to Apri-Ski to the Hotel. The village itself is quaint and the centre of 100km worth of pistes, all in walking distance. Anyone looking for a really great skiing holiday without long waits at the lift stations, Obertauern is the place to go to and with the team at Hotel Rigele Royal getting totally spoiled in the process.

Just came back from beautiful Austria! This time our choice fell on Obertauern. Awesome place for everybody and Rigele hotel is a real pearl! Central location (2 minutes to the slopes), nice building, decent rooms, delicious food, great recreation center - outdoor pool in -20 C(don't worry, water is slightly warmer, lol) is a real fun! And most important - service! These guys are real professionals! From the room service to high management! And all this stuff you can get for reasonable money - slightly under 1000 euro/pers. for week with HB/ski-pass. In my case I had to add about $880 for a flight from... USA. Definitely was worth! I can't wait for the next time!

First of all I just want to Thank every staff member of the hotel for their great welcome.
Rigele Royal is a great place to stay. It's right next to the slopes. Rooms are nice. Everyone is so FRIENDLY and HELPFUL. I would stay there again.

The only thing I might recommend is to make a separate smoking area just because it's a bit unpleasant for people who don't smoke!

But Overall great stay!
