A great hotel. Great food and facilities. Rooms were clean and spacious, and there is a beautiful swimming pool and 2 sauna's. Also each room had its own heated ski-locker.

It's expensive, but you'll get value for money for sure.

Special thanks to Maya and Patrik serving in the restaurant, and Tomas arranging the ski rental and lessons.

8 of us stayed here for a weeks ski trip. The service was amazing, food was delicious however too fussy for me at dinner (but that’s a personal statement), breakfast was buffet style with an egg chef making omelettes etc to order! ... rooms were gorgeous, modern and really comfortable! The boot room was spacious, clean and warm which is what you want when you get back from a cold day in the snow!

It was about about a 10 minute walk into the town where there were great restaurants and bars and there was a SPAR supermarket nearby where you can get snacks, water and cheap alcohol!!! Own brand Disaronno for €4... take a hip flask, then you can add a little shot to your hot chocolate or coffee on those hut stops on the mountain!

Will definitely return!!! Thanks Hotel Kohlmayr for an amazing holiday!!! See you again soon!

We stayed at Kohlmayr during February half-term and loved it. The hotel has a contemporary Alpine design with wooden interiors, swanky bathrooms and roaring open fires downstairs.

The food was amazing, from breakfast through to afternoon tea and the 5 course dinner every evening. The chefs must work their socks off preparing a meat, fish and veggie option every night. Chapeau!

The staff were friendly and helpful, chatting amicably at dinner and even preparing lunch bags for our early start on departure day.

What sets this hotel apart from the rest has to be the wellness area downstairs though. Heated indoor pool, tick. Sauna, tick. Steam bath, tick. Hot tub, tick. Relaxation area, tick. The perfect end to a heavy day on the slopes.

We came back to the Kohlmayr hotel for a third time over Christmas this winter. Last time we were not too impressed, prompting us to go somewhere else last year. This year however, we were not disappointed at all. The bar is now smoke free, which seems small beer (ha!) but is actually a huge improvement. The food was back to top notch in the restaurant (which is a big deal as well as the hotel is half board only during the holiday period). Also, the skiroom now has lockers (we had some snowboots stolen here a few years back). Another improvement has been the addition of another sauna, although to be frank we were all to happy to just sit in the jacuzzi with our kids after a long day skiing. And it is for skiing that you come to Obertauern. During our stay we had a couple of top powder days!

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff and an excellent bar. The food and dining area is incredible for all meals of the day with amazing panoramic views, fresh pistes in the morning and pistebashers in the evening. The food itself was amazing and so was the service. The spa and pool is very nice and suits every need. The boot room is nice and spacious with good sized lockers and easily accessible, the ski shop located on the bottom floor of the hotel is also very convenient and quick and easy. The room was of a very high standard and very spacious with good views. The location is good with a short uphill walk to the slopes across the bridge and an easy walk down again. An umbrella bar is located near the bridge, but if you're young and looking for a party, Obertauern lacks places, with only a few lively bars a 10 minute walk away. However the hotel is amazing and I can't fault a single thing would highly recommend.
