We recently returned from our third visit to the Marietta. It's a perfectly satisfactory base for a ski holiday, but it's not much like other Austrian 4-star hotels we've stayed in. No beautifully presented meals with waiter service, for example - at the Marietta all meals are buffet style. The choice of food and the quality is good, but you have to brave the crowd in the dining area to get it yourself. Every night there is a stir-fry, which is good but a bit repetitive, and a further meat, fish and veggie option. An excellent cheese board is available every night, and a choice of desserts.
We had a standard room which was well appointed, spotlessly clean and with plenty of room for our stuff. The bar is large with comfy leather armchairs, a good place to meet and socialise.
The hotel is reasonably "ski-in ski-out" - a short distance down the road is a bridge which takes you directly to the slopes. However it's not well situated for returning from the Edelweiss apres-ski bar on the slopes, or for the ski bus stop (to get to the neighbouring ski area of Grosseck) or the main village generally.More
