“Unique shopping street”
Review of Gstattengasse

It's wierd to have such an olde worlde street with a McDonalds and H&M on! The shops blend in well to the street, especially with the unique McDonalds sign.

Cobbles add to the feel of an old street, as do the brightly coloured buildings. Lots of little passageways are located off this street which take ages to explore. A huge range of things available here from modern day clothing, the traditional Austrian dress, tourist knick knacks and high end designer clothing.

Great place to spend a few hours.

Found out about the multitude of shopping passages and tunnels on YouTube, and it was a shame we only had a few hours to spend in Gstattengasse. To do it justice you really need a day, at least, to spend there especially as its within the old town. Loads of eating places and drinking places so a day could really be spent here.
Rather expensive for us, clearly not for everyone, so its just memorabilia and trinkets for us. Some great Christmas trimmings on sale, and at a good price.
I understand most tourists know nothing of Gstattengasse which is amazing.

When you cross over the Salzach into old town, you will be on the main shopping pedestrian street. This street takes many names till you reach Mozartplatz. Getreidegasse, Gatattengasse and many more. It is delightful street filled with shops, cafes and restaurants of all culture and variety, some hi so shops and some souvenir, something for everyone. And lots of local shoppers and tourists. Great for a leisurely stroll window shopping and more. Mozarts birthplace is here also. Beautiful archetecture, signage above the street, lights and colorful buildings. The street is flat and solid and most establishments are ground level so wheelchair accessibility should be good.

The shop signs are fantastic.
Originally, they were a sign that the shopkeeper had the appropriate qualifications.
I had to ration the photos - I could have taken dozens. There are really unusual signs and they make the street very attractive.

A popular street for shopping lovers. High fashion shops with high prices. This area is always crowded. There are plenty of shops to see and visit. Every shop has its own stylish banner. All shops are closed on Sundays.
