Travelling by taxi from the Salzburg main train station we were a bit concerned at the time taken to reach this Hotel but found that the journey involved mostly one way streets which regulated the traffic and caused taxis to take a circulatory route!
Anyway we arrived to a very 'Austrian' looking picturesque Hotel with mountains on one side and open land on the other - our first impressions were good and we were not to be disappointed.
A family run establishment which was reflected in the friendly cozy atmosphere - the room was large, bright and open with views over the adjoining fields - the room had everything you needed.
We had breakfast (wide choice of food & a lot more on request if required) and dinner at the Hotel and both were superb and the dinner was well priced (we had only booked B&B).
We discovered the local buses which ran every 15 minutes (on time!) and took about the same time to get into the Centre of Salzburg and a day ticket for 3.70 Euros per person was exceptionally good value - we made very good use of this facility!
The only thing I would mention is that my wife and I like walking but the footpaths surrounding the Hotel are shared between pedestrians and cyclists and the cyclists seem to think they are competing in the Tour de France as they speed up and down the paths at a rate of knots so if you are walking you need eyes in the back of your head!
Apart from that this is a superb Hotel nicely situated some 5km outside of Salzburg in a pretty rural setting and the Hotel service and facilities cannot be faulted!

Room Tip: Roadside room if you want to look out at the Mountains but all views were good.

We stayed two nights at Blobergerhof and found it to be one of the best hotels we have stayed in in Europe. The staff were friendly and efficient nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a delicious dinner with them one night and the breakfasts were also good. It also looks seriously cute and has wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. Will definitely be back!

Situated in a rural setting but not far from the city center lies this gem of a small hotel. Near it are some small farms and you will at once gain that feeling of being in the Austrian countryside. You might even hear a melody from "The Sound of Music" ...

The hotel building itself is in excellent condition (I am always on the lookout for deferred maintenance). Everything looked fresh and nearly new. Well-run, well-managed are the apparent core values of this enterprise.

We were too tired one evening to go out so we tepidly tried the in-house restaurant (closed Sundays). We should have eaten there each evening - the food was excellent with a interesting menu.

Two other restaurants are within 200 meters of the Bloberger Hof: Reiterhof Moos and Scachlwirt Familie Horvath, both of which are fair alternatives - especially on Sunday.

While most others used the nearby bus service, we opted for more flexibility and drove to the Altstadt underground garage (CONTIPARK Tiefgarage B Altstadtgarage) located at Hildmannplatz 1, 5020 Salzburg. From the hotel, the route is straight back into town with a few turns close to the garage. Parking at this garage places you within the old city (Altstadt). In our experience, the cost of the garage was slightly less than the required bus tickets.

Would we stay here again - yes! There is so much to see in Salzburg that multiple visits are necessary.

We visited Bloberger Hof in May after 2 weeks in Germany on a guided Luther Reformation Tour. We were exhausted. This was a time for us to recuperate from tramping all through Germany after touring museums and churches. It was so quiet here, just what we needed. We had wonderful breakfast each morning with eggs made to order. Two mornings we had breakfast outside. One dinner we ate in the restaurant which was fantastic. The family that runs this hotel is very gracious. They answered all our questions and directed us to the bus stop for bus #21 for a day of shopping for souvenirs in Salzburg. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. We just had a standard room but it was more than adequate for our needs. Even had my laundry done in a quick manner while we were out one afternoon on a walk. The grounds are immaculate. I am sorry that we live in the United States as I would love to visit again very soon for rest and relaxation.

This was our first trip to Austria and so we were hesitant and had no idea what to expect ! . The family and staff at Bloberger Hof Hotel made us feel immediately welcome, answered all our questions and were very helpful. The breakfasts and dinners were wonderful and the whole Hotel is spotlessly clean. Attention to detail both in function and creating a beautiful environment adds to an unforgettable experience. The bus to Salzburg is 5 mins walk and then a 15 min ride on the bus. So easy. We loved every minute of our stay here ! Susan and John, Australia
