Our return visit to Innsbruck co-incided with a major cycling event (2018 UCI Road World Championships), so all hotels (including Hotel Innsburck, where we last stayed in 2015) were full or overpriced for our dates. We secured a room at the Hotel Graur Bar (somewhat unsure about the mixed reviews in the past0 - eventually, the hotel surpassed our expectations.
Location : Located opposite the Jesuit church on Universitatstrasse, the hotel is just around the corner from the historical centre (Innerestadt). As we left next morning by train, it was also an easy 10 mins walk from the station.
Facilities : The rooms seems to have been recently refurbished, and were clean, quiet and comfortable. Wifi was slightly iffy. In particular, we enjoyed the spa facilities on the 5th floor- with the uniquely placed outdoor Jacuzzi on the rooftop terrace, facing the Jesuit church.
Service : The reception staff are courteous and efficient, although it’s perennially busy since the hotel caters to tour groups, so feels slightly impersonal. Breakfast was a lavish spread, but again, a very busy service. We didn’t try the restaurants.More
