The hotel I stayed in was close to Paolo Bortolotti. I had a lot very dinner at the hotel then went for a walk. I was craving ice cream but wasn't sure where to go. As I was walking around I saw their sign. The staff were friendly and the gelato was fabulous.

Thank Africache

The waitress was very polite and helpful. She turned on the heaters because it was still slightly cold in the morning. The ice cream was delicious and the coffee was great.

after a long day sightseeing, it was easy to swing into here on the way home for a little treat and reward for climbing the hill. Bortolotti is a friendly Italian eatery, serving many different flavours of gelato, piled high in a wafer "becher" (cup) for less than 4 euros (two scoops/flavours). They also have a menu of mouth-watering pictured desserts; ice cream sundaes and various delicious concoctions. Service is laid back and friendly, it's open late and they don't seem to mind if you sit in when you just have an ice cream. Their hot chocolate is something else; almost solid - barely liquid - just like they'd melted a chocolate bar into a mug. Very tasty. Recommend this lovely place - especially their zingy zesty lemon gelato paired with strawberry.

Sometimes in winter you just want some great Italian ice-cream, this is one of the few places open during winter season, not far from downtown
