Owner description: Zoo Vienna, the oldest existing zoo in the world founded in 1752. Schonbrunn Zoo was voted Europe's best in 2008, 2010 and 2012. Schonbrunn Zoo is the perfect place for a journey into the fascinating world of the animal kingdom. Open year round, it combines the highlights of the natural world with an unparalleled history as the world's oldest and Europe's best zoo. It is part of Schonbrunn as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage listed site and home to more than 700 species of animals. Marvel at the Giant pandas, tigers, orangutans, koalas and elephants, immerse yourself in the magic of the Amazon and feel the heat of a tropical rainforest in the heart of Europe. Moderated feeding sessions, guided tours and a trip aboard the panorama train turn a trip to the zoo into an unforgettable experience.

Excellent layout. This zoo gives you an easy view of all their own animals without them being stuck in small little cages. I must admit I went to the zoo to see the pandas but due to the recent birth of some baby pandas, the pandas were not on show. This definitely didnt ruin my trip. Loved every minute.

The zoo is outside of Vienna accessible by Underground and buses. It is next to the Schoenbrunn Palace. We purchased the tickets on line before we went to Vienna and could walk straight through the gate. It is quite expensive but the zoo is spacious for all the animals and a lot of them are either rescue or endangered species like the Giant Pandas. We saw them at feeding time, but be aware the times they put up are not always accurate. We happen to notice a crowd about 2pm when they should have been fed at 2:39pm by which time they were back in their respective house where you can see them through the glass but they are usually asleep. There are a few bar/cafes there as well. One nice one by the Meerkats and Penguins.

Really surprised how good this was. Not only the area the zoo is in and the fantastic palace and grounds but this was actually one of the best zoo's have ever visited. Layout of the place, the enclosures and the animals themselves were all fantastic. Seeing the rhino's have their afternoon showers in the heat was a great experience. Must visit - only downside is it's a bit out of the centre so a taxi is 30 euro return but the tube/buses go straight there if we had more time. Def one of the best zoo's in Europe.

The zoo was fonded in 1725 and is regarded as the oldest zoo in the world. More than 700 species of animal find a home in the zoo, including some of the world's most seriously endangered species. Contributing towards the survival of many endangered and threatened species , the motto of the zoo is "Protect and preserve species" There are restaurants and cafes to get food and drinks. We loved the polar bears. We get o the zoomby using line U4, alighting at Hietzing.

I was not here for the first time, so I was looking for some new things. It is always very exciting and kids really enjoyed to see so many different animals.
