Cozy, warm restaurant (yes, it was cold outside). We enjoyed wonderful soups and the luncheon special of the day which was chicken. Our service was prompt and the food was excellent. Fantastic find just around the corner from St. Stephan's. Perfect!

If you're looking for the best Wienerschnitzel in Vienna, this is the place to go! My friends who got the goulash were jealous after a taste of my schnitzel, and I could not help but oo and ahh throughout the meal. You can check out there menu online: www.vinum-wien.at. We went there for a lunch break after visiting Stephansplatz. This was a great reprieve from the touristy restaurants off the main strip. It's reputed to be the oldest tavern in Vienna (being over 350 years old), playing host to such patrons as Schubert. Would highly recommend this restaurant for Austrian food!

A very nice typical viennese restaurant very close to St. Stephen and at very reasonable prices.
If you are a foreigner the waiters will most probably give you a shorter menu in english. Ask for their complete one in German since there are a lot of interesting dishes.
Outdoor seating is very nice.

This restaurant is located on Singerstrasse at the corner of Reimergasse about 4 short blocks from St. Stephan's Cathedral. Covered outside seating as well and a dining room.

Very reasonable, EXCELLENT OLD STYLE AUSTRIAN FOOD . . . . sausage, chops, goulash, etc. and plenty of it. Service was fast, polite and accurate. Their basket of bread is great too. . . . . as is their draft Austrian beer served in large or small steins.

Good food. Good service. Reasonable prices. They don't rush you. What could be better.

A tip: Immediately across the street on the corner is a small grocery store that stays open late . . . . . much like the 7/11's that you see in the USA . . . . . A good place to buy bottled water (although Vienna's tap water is completely safe), sodas, beer or snacks. Prices much better than you will find at your hotel.

On our recent visit to Vienna we had the opportunity to have dinner at this quaint and very good restaureant. It is very convenient as it is about two blocks from Stephanzplatz.
The restaurant has very nice outdoor seating in a garden like enviornment which is the place to be if the weather permits. If you must be inside there are three very nice rooms which are all wood paneled and quaint.
If you are looking for the traditional Viannese dinner this place is a much better alternative than the touristy Figlmeullars. The wienerschnitzel is fantastic and there are many other traditional dishes that looked good. The wine list is a pride of the place and is very extensive. We had a mid-priced local white wine that was wonderful. We shared a cheese appetizer and both had entrees, mine the schnitzel and my wife had a nocchi dish. The toal bill was approximately $60.
The only downside for us was the attitude of the waiter. I will write it off to perhaps having a difficult day bu he was not particularly helpful in selecting either the food or the wine. We were clearly American tourists and I have the feeling that the clientele of the restaurant is primarily local. In any event the food was served professionally and tasted excellent. We would certainly returrn and perhaps hope for another waiter. The garden seating was delightful.
