Owner description: Coaches and carriages of emperors and gowns and dresses of empresses The Imperial Carriage Museum Vienna in Schonbrunn Palace invites you to take a walk through the history of Austria. See the carriages of famous rulers such as Maria Theresia, Napoleon or Franz Joseph and accompany them through their eventful lives. The highlight is the baroque Imperial Coach, but there are also exquisite state carriages, comfortable travelling coaches and the charming children’s carriages of Habsburg princes and princesses. Another highlight is the »Sisi Trail« that showcases not only the Empress’ carriages but also personal mementos such as her only extant saddle, her »riding chapel«, and sumptuous original dresses.

This is an amazing small museum. The carriages are so ornate and well preserved. It is interesting to see the plush and luxuriously sumptuous interiors. I also enjoyed the historian on the t.v. that was set up in various rooms. At least the one that bothered to subtitle in English. Great backstory on the carriages and sleighs. Loved the gold baroque carriages.

If you have time , it can be seen as a part of Schonbrun visit but nothing special. It is a small collection.

It is a wonderful collection of the carriages used by the imperial family. beside the carriages you can see old dresses of Sissi and guess the trim figure she had.

This was part of the Schoenburnn Tour and I am glad I took the time to see this collection of carriages. The detail on each one was amazing, think of all the work and dedication it took to build them.
