It's something like a high-end supermarket, in which you can buy local brands and specialities of Vienna and the region. Very easy to find, so check it out.

Went into this store to look for some hard to find gourmet items. We found them in spades. Also noticed a fine selection of wines and alcohol, some chilled. Produce. Upstairs was a bakery, deli and cheese shop. We picked up a few items and had antipasti back at the hotel. Wanted to go back and load up on some more specialty items, but unfortunately the place was closed. Business hours are kind of like museum hours.

Meinl am Graben is not only a gourmet grocery, but has several, surprising, dining options to stumble upon. On the upper floors, tucked away behind the towers of products, you will find one of the best sushi and sashimi bars in Vienna, with seating only for about 8 guests. On the first floor (which is also the 2nd, depending upon where you hail from), you can find one of the most fine lunc experiences in the city, with a beautiful bar and windows looking straight down the Graben to the impressive monument erected to give thanks for Vienna surviving one of the Plagues. Be prepared here to drop at least €40 per person (with a glass of wine), but lunch is a beautifully unhurried, quality dining experience. One the ground floor, in all weather, is a lunch counter set up in the entryway - a great place for tourists and businesspeople alike to grab a €3 baguette or a single container of whatever hot dishes are on offer that day (lasagna, goulash, etc). Inside the store, you can find all the wonderful, hard-to-get Austrian products and products from your home countries, too. If you are an American, be prepared that some US treats are sold as novelties (probably because they are mostly chemical and not real food), and will cost you dearly (I once saw a box of Twinkies for about $20). This is the store that those "in the know" - and Austrian society - come for hard-to-get cheeses, beef tartare, specialty cakes (which are surprisingly not too expensive), the highest quality marzipan, hard-to-find liquor and spirits . . . the list is endless. Personally, when I am stuck in a funk (which most people are in the wet, gray, winter, a trip to Meinl always put a smile on my face.

If you are in Vienna do not miss the opportunity to taste one of the best traditional Viennese coffee houses.
Every Cup of coffee come to you with a small coup of Soda water and a small Piece of brownies, what a lovely combination.
If the employee do have much to do then maybe you will get your coffee a bit cold or maybe little bit much cold which make this experience turn to a night mare.

The management unfortanatelly is not doing much to solve this problem which is a gambling situation either you will enjoy your stay or hate it at all.

An incredible selection of gourmet foods. The wine bar in the lower level is excellent with tasty appetizers. You can get lost in that store, especially at the cheese counter.
