There are regular guided tours around the house. it wasn't very busy, but still a very passionate guide gave us a 45 minute tour of the house, just for the two of us! It was extremely interesting, lots of anecdotes and a crash course in Norwegian history.
There was also a nice temporary exhibition about the 'homecoming' of Bjørnson after his death in Paris.
This visit hugely exceeded our expectations. A must if you are in the neighborhood!

This was Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson's home. He was a Norwegian writer who received the 1903 Nobel Prize in Literature, becoming the first Norwegian Nobel laureate. Bjørnson is considered to be one of The Four Greats among Norwegian writers, the others being Henrik Ibsen, Jonas Lie, and Alexander Kielland. Bjørnson is also celebrated for his lyrics to the Norwegian National Anthem.

A bit of a commute from Lillehammer, but this is definitely an important site to visit. The museum is nice, and it is a great weekend activity for the family.

its a bit of a drive, but its worth it. The house is in perfect condition, you could move ringht inn to B. Bjornsons home. The house is very nice decorated and you get to go inn in al the rooms. There are paintings, gifts and writings from many famous norwegian people, and a photo of Grieg playing the piano in the living room. Were nice to have seen, so thake the drive :)
