Booked the Carlton Guldsmeden hotel for the May 17th long weekend. This hotel is on what looks like a residential street, away from the action but really only 10 minutes from everything. It is so quiet we actually slept with our window opened! Staff was very welcoming at check in. The rooms were immaculate and so beautifully decorated, although they are a little smaller then the pictures on their site let on. Breakfast is fantastic with great options for everyone. We had the chance to eat at their restaurant (Le Manon)
for dinner and were presently surprised. The food was fresh and healthy. I would recommend this hotel as a great value for your money.

We stayed for two days in this hotel in May 2015.
If you are travelling from the Oslo airport and don't have a lot of luggage, take the flyover train to the National Theater station (look for Parkveien exit). The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from there.
The hotel location is nice - in the really quiet neighborhood, but walking distance to the center and main Oslo attractions.
Rooms are not big, but beautifully decorated (country style). Warm floor in the bathroom. Nice!
Breakfasts are very tasty and organic - good start of the day! However, I wouldn't mind more meat/ham options.
The staff is friendly and does their best to make your stay comfortable and pleasant, thank you!
On a value/price ratio - this is portably the best option for Oslo accommodation.
Try Alex sushi nearby - a bit pricey, but really worth it!

Room tip: The rooms facing the yard are really quiet. The higher you can get, the better.

This was a great place to relax--quiet, clean, wonderful organic food at breakfast, and a staff that pays attention to detail. The decor is exotic and fun, and the hotel is run with a commitment to sustainability and global resources. Definitely to be recommended!

We are so glad we found this place on TripAdvisor! We wanted boutique and this was perfect. The desk staff were super helpful and we loved the rooms. The toiletries provided are the best I've experienced and the environmental standard is incredibly impressive.

The spa in the basement is a hidden gem! We went each day to warm up after spending a long day walking around the city. The breakfast is excellent and we really can't think of anything that wasn't spot on. We will definitely stay again, both in Oslo and other cities.

Room tip: We had a room at the back of the hotel and on the weekend there are kids playing in the area and can be quite noisy so it may actually be quieter at the front. It didn't bother us though, it was nice to be amongst local life!
