“Hostel with great service”
Reviewed 27 March 2012

I found that the youth Hostel Haraldsheim was a very pleasant place to stay for a weekend. Even that we only arrived late in the evening and there was no more warm water(it was winter in Norway) did not bother me alot because the service was great!!
At the reception the guy could speak at least 4 languages fluently... he gave us a lot of information about getting around Oslo.
My only negative point is the distance to the city centre, but i suppose in summer there are enough activitys on the sport places around the hostel.

Haraldsheim to be recommended for it's hospitality. Easy to get to if you follow directions given when booking hostel. Far from being inexpensive. Very expensive for a hostel. But in Scandanavian country you pay prices accordingly. I only paid E8 (and no taxes) for flight to Rygge so I all in all it was an inexpensive holiday.
City covered in snow early in year so be prepared for being knee deep in the white stuff if you want to cover any ground. There are some shops nearby to stock up on the essentials, though as usual not inexpensive. The self catering kitchen is better than most. TV room very comfortable. Games room and library are nice additions.

Stayed 1 night here only, but had a really good night's rest that night. Beds were comfortable and clean. Appreciated that the toiletry and shower area was separated, and both were very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was of a wide variety as well. Main drawback is the location, unable to walk to the city, so you'll have to take a train too, which is quite expensive. Also, they don't allow sleeping bags, and you've to pay about 5 pounds for bed linen too. Other than that, it's a great hostel! Would come back again.

i stayed here the first night, it was great. then i left to a cabin with people i met there, and when i had to stay there again, the place was nice but the room got very crowded, there were around 6 people in one room. it got very rough. i advice to find out about small cabin houses near Oslo. if you have another three friends, it's great and could get cheaper than in the hostel. The food is great though, and coming late at night is nice as it was mentioned a bus can pick you up. bring your bed sheets. ;)

Room Tip: find one room with few people in it.

The room for 4 people was tiny, no breathing space. The beds are infested. The whole group got scabies. Do not stay here!

It is a good hostel outside the centre of Oslo, you can get there by tram No.17. They have nice dorms, the one I slept in was 4-person one.Beds are comfortable, there are common showers and toilets. The hostel has laundry and a big kitchen, when you can prepare meal (you can store your food and beverages in a common refrigirator). They have free Internet (2 devices) at a ground floor. Breakfast is included in a room price.

The price for a bed in a dorm in July 2010 was 245 NOK
