Owner description: With a size of over 50 hectares, Austria's largest rural Palace complex is only an hour's drive from Vienna. As the country seat of Prince Eugene of Savoy and later Maria Theresa and Joseph II. Schloss Hof has seen many splendid celebrations and illustrious guests. Today, visitors can not only see the imperial living quarters in the bel Etage, but also attend numerous Events and activities for the whole Family that continue the opulent traditions of the past.

Went to Schloss Hof by bicycle from Devin which is 6,5km. There is Easter market during Easter weekend. We payed only outside family ticket as there is enough attractions outside, Zoo, kids playgrounds and Easter decoration. Go during good weather of course.

The gardens and grounds are beautiful, you can spend hours walking round them all. Interesting history and lots of information in the rooms and also activities for younger children. Also has some nice play areas to keep kids entertained. There are a few places to eat and were reasonably priced and also lots of benches for picnics if you want. Very nice day out!

We try to visit Schloss Hof once a year with our children. Besides the castle, there are beautiful gardens, a large area with animals (the deers and camels will let you pet them) and a small petting zoo with goats, sheep and chicken.

The onsite restaurant has a good selection of traditional Austrian food for fair prices, but there are also a lot of benches, seating areas and lounge chairs, where you can eat your own food and have a picnic.

There's a lot going on, different events, markets, concerts, etc. The last time we visited, there was a "Herbstmarkt" (Autumn Fair) and besides traditional products for sale, there was also a station for carving pumpkins and it was free of charge (i.e. included in the original price).

I would definitely recomment Schloss Hof to a family with children for a day trip. Do keep in mind that if it rains, the animals are in their shelters, so try to pick a sunny day.

Located near the border with Slovakia but easily reached from Vienna, or a detour on your drive between Budapest and Vienna.
Lots of history about the Austrian empire over the centuries. And a real 'hunting lodge' used by the royal families.
It seems to have been recently updated and renovated.
You dont have to spend too long looking around inside the house and there is a kind of route you follow so that you see everything. Outside they are currently updating the grounds to create authenticity and there is also an area where they keep various breeds of sheep, goats, cows, camel, lamas, alpacas.
IF YOU ARE HUNGRY - visit their restaurant.
The food is reasonably priced, and it is fantastic! Quite a variety on the menu, but also ask about the daily specials.
Hope you find this useful!!

I wish I had more time to explore this beautiful place but since we visited while doing a bike tour we only had about an hour to explore the grounds and buildings before needing to hit the road again. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area,
