New Dragon Gate Seafood Village

We stayed at the Hotel Sentral Seaview which is right next door to New Dragon Gate. Providence placed a great restaurant right in our path. The menu was a bit daunting, but our server made some suggestions that were spot on for us. My husband had clams in spicy broth. The broth was very spicy - left his lips tingling - but very delicious. He said the clams were top notch. If seafood is not fresh you can tell it quickly with the clams, but these were “clean and fresh”. We shared the black and white tofu which was also very delicious. I had a whole snapper steamed “Baba” style. It had a delicious sauce and the fish was prepared to perfection! The fish was obviously fresh and flakey - not at all overdone. It was a great meal and we’re planning to go back before we leave!

Excellent food; should try the assorted tafu! Also the seafood are fresh; our squid lemon chili was sour and spicy. The taste that we wanted!

You can find this seafood restaurant by walking through Viva. It is next to Hotel Sentral. Very clean, good service. Good English is spoken so there is help on hand when ordering if you need it. We ate here twice and had crab and prawns along with deer meat, vegetables and rice. The food was well cooked and very tasty both times. A large bottle of Carlsberg was Rm17. The bill for 3 people was Rm142, not cheap by Malaysian standards but at under £8 per head for a seafood dinner it represents good value.
