Just returned home from the most relaxing all inclusive Holiday We have ever had, every member of staff from Bar Staff Stella,Chrissy and Irena to the Entertainment Girls and Guys were tremendous, Variety of food and drink was fabulous when the restaurant closed you could have hot snacks at the Pool Bar, the Management have done an excellent job with making our Holiday faultless. The rooms are bit dated with good air conditioning and we had two single beds pushed together and would of preferred a double, however we have no complaints with how clean and spotless they were.
Location was good and picturesque and reasonable for a 4* hotel. Thompson were also very good with arranging this trip also on arrival we had complimentary milk and coffee a bottle of wine, fruit and water in the fridge and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: rooms starting at 311 to 317 were quite and had a good view of the sea and the gardens of the sister hotel the St George Hotel, I can not recommend the Spa as it was closed but you could use the Spa next door.

If you're thinking of staying here please don't let the negative comments from other posters put you off.The rooms were very clean, the maids clean them daily. The coffee tea and milk were always in our room and if you have a problem with a lack of teabags (is that a problem?) such as an earlier poster did you simply pick up coffee/tea bags in the restaurant at your leisure. We were there for our wedding and they left a large bowl of fruit and a bottle of champers on ice in our room for our arrival. The food was great and there's plenty of choice in the restaurant. The views are amazing (I felt quite smug about our choice of hotel as it had the best views by far.)The staff were wonderful the pools were great, not too deep for the little ones so you can relax a little bit easier and if you want to swim the indoor pool was almost always empty. If you have small children with you,you may want to ask for a downstairs room as the balconies made me a little nervous - so easy for them to drag patio furniture to the edge and climb up.I'm not sure why someone complained about missing breakfast and not being able to eat until 2 after that because cold snacks are always available before 11pm and should you wish to go out for the day and you inform the desk staff they will make you up a picnic to take with you.The entertainment team were fantastic with the children. All the staff were great with the kids. The British woman who works in the hotel shop was the only downside for me as she had a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp if anybody touched the precious things in her shop.Miserable artical. The pool bar staff were LOVELY the restaurant staff returned toys, mobile phones and my handbag that we'd left there countless times. There's a path along the sea that's car free and a great place to stroll along and watch the sun go down with a cocktail in your hand.We all loved every aspect of our stay at St. George Gardens and will be going back as soon as we can.I miss it already and it's not been 24 hours yet!

Room Tip: Ask for sea view room. Ask for downstairs room if you have small children. The rooms without the slide partition are more private.

I have never written a review before, but after reading some of the negative comments posted about the St George Gardens (Family Beach Club), I thinks it's probably a good time to start. The St George Gardens Family Beach Beach Club, is given a hard time by some guests, as they compare it to the St George Hotel which is right next door, they are both part of the same chain the hotel is a 4 star hotel, soon to under go refurb and be a 5 star, the Family Beach Club is a 4 star apartment, hotels and apartments are rated differently! We stayed in the Gardens on all inclusive and had the added bonus of an apartment with a kettle and fridge, which was stocked with milk and water when we arrived, there was also tea and coffee in the room aswell, so we could have a drink before we went to bed after the long day travelling, as an added gesture there was also fresh fruit and a bottle of wine waiting in the room, the rest of the guests who had travelled with us all had the same things on arrival! The milk, tea and coffee was also replenished throughout our stay. We also arrived late at night almost midnight, the reception guy was great happy and friendly and the lady at the bar in the reception area served everyone with drinks whilst we were checking in! To the lifts, reception is on floor 4, you get in the lift and you can go to floor 3 or floor 2, you DO NOT have to walk down any stairs after getting out of the lift on floor 2 to get to the restaurant that is on floor 1 if you do not want to - there is another lift just a short walk from the one you get out of, you will see if you look around or if you are struggling ask reception who are very helpful! This lift will take you to Floor 1 were the main restaurant is and to the ground floor 0, where the beach bar is and the pool! I have to agree that the staff are all very helpful, Stella, Irena, Chrissy and the entertainment team do a wonderful job! This hotel is very clean and so is the pool and the surrounding areas, the pool is not very deep, but more than adequate to swim in, we were there beginning of September and there were plenty of sun loungers available.
We have done all inclusive before and the food here was very good, always hot and a good selection of dishes, yes the kids corner is basically nuggets and chip or hot dog sausages but there is plenty to satisfy kids in the main menu and also plenty of selection for vegetarians.
There are some negatives, there is a children's club which was open and very good - however it is not very well advertised, so its possible you would not realise it was there - the lady who runs it is very nice and our son and some of the other children used it and enjoyed it! The entertainment team were great and worked really hard, however the kids disco consisted of about 5 songs, I felt there could be more emphasis on the children during the earlier part of the evening, also most of the entertainment takes place in the amphitheatre, which really is not suitable for families at all it has very steep steps and I was concerned about the children falling, it does however look very good, just in my opinion not very practical. We were there to get married and all the staff were fantastic, Sandra the wedding co-ordinator did a marvellous job, she was very approachable and ensured that everything ran smoothly, Marios Lantos at the hotel was also very approachable and went out of his way to make sure that we were happy! It's certainly not cheap to stay here however no where is now, I would say it was good value for money! You can easily get the bus down to Paphos for a Euro if you need a change of scenery!! All in all we had a fantastic 2 weeks stay and a beautiful wedding day! I would certainly go back!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view, fantastic sunsets and beautiful views

I have to agree with every negative comment posted about this hotel , but before i do i must offer the highest of praise to the no doubt under paid and overworked daily staff at St Georges Gardens . Without the entertainment team there would not have been a holiday , barstaff , porters , cleaners and just about every member of staff deserve a medal for the effort they put into trying to cheer disappointed and bored guests .

Now back to the hotel . As a wedding group of 17 we were placed on the top 2 floors (5&6) . Having arrived at midnight when the entire hotel is closed we were given a key with a number on it and the lift was pointed out to us . We could not even get a cup of tea ! .The following morning my partner went in search of milk for a cuppa (we took our own tea and coffee - thankfully) . The reception lady insisted satchets etc had been placed in our rooms but this was not the case and all 17 of us bought our own tea , coffee , sugar and milk at the local shop throughout our 14 day stay (apart from my son and his girlfriend who eventually gave up asking for a kettle because thier room didn't have one !) .

OK so we had a cuppa on a balcony which offers little privacy (having a conversation at 7 in the morning while sitting in your underwear is an odd experience especially when its with the strangers staying in the room above yours and hanging out of the window to say hello) . Now we dont really feel like breakfast but if we dont eat now we cant eat at all until 2 when dinner is served unless we leave the hotel ? - we go down for breakfast . The lift takes us most of the way to the dining room its only 200 yards or so and two flights of stairs after leaving the lift .

The food is quite good i suppose depending on when you arrive , its served school dinner style except you help yourself , time it wrong and its been kept on a hotplate for an hour and so its awful , or half the options are gone completely and so you must wait around for the trays to be replenished , unfortunately this happens periodically and individually so it is virtually impossible to get a HOT meal at any time . After 4 days everything looks and tastes the same regardless . A meal cannot be ordered at any time in the hotel (a £10 a night B&B usually offers this) .

Breakfast over we traipse back to our room , have a cuppa and decide if we should go to the pool or ..... erm ..... go to the pool , there is nowhere else to go in the hotel grounds . The bar is actually in the reception hall where nobody in thier right mind would choose to sit and relax and so in reality the only drink you can have in a glass is on the large patio outside the reception area , this opens around half 5 in the evening and closes promptly at midnight .

So back to the pool . It is about a metre and a half deep which pretty much prevents swimming as such , the baby pool is ankle deep and the main pool to my mind might be described as a childs pool . All drinks at the pool bar are served in very flimsy disposable plastic beakers .

Two oclock ish , should have some dinner but the heats too much - but if we dont eat it'll be 7 or 8 before we can get food again ? - we traipse back to our room , get changed (no wet clothes or bare chests in dining room) go back down and eat something we don't want . After dinner we traipse back to our room and sleep for an hour or two to pass the time then back to the pool . repeat at 7 oclock for the evening meal . Following the evening meal we sit outside the dining room as its level with the ampitheatre to watch the entertaiment team do thier acts . We feel too bloated (more to do with the heat than what we have just ate) to enjoy a drink so we just sit around for a while watching the kids enjoy the entertainment until we can find the energy to negotiate another 2 flights of stairs to get a drink in a plastic glass .

About 10pm my partner decides he cannot face a third plastic pint of lager and so we go up to reception where a real glass truly does feel like luxury (i bought my own bottle of Southern Comfort because i couldn't find a drink i liked in the hotel) . 2 or maybe 3 drinks later perhaps 10 of our party of 17 are just starting to enjoy the night and the bar closes . It is worth noting that the reception bar is on floor 4 and the nearest toilet on floor 3 , most of us found it just as easy to return to our room to relieve ourselves .

Two days of the above was enough , we got up on the third day and found a bus stop , its seems the harbour was the place to go . It isn't , every single shop sells EXACTLY the same tacky merchandise , silly hats , silly t-shirts , sun glasses and toys . Between shops you will find umpteen open air cafes which in Cyprus are also considered pubs i suppose ? .

Typically my fella and two of his mates did find a pub of sorts (Players it was called) that sold English beer , Carlsberg lager on draught , John Smith's bitter and Guiness in cans . They stayed 3 hours and the bar bill came to 106 euros . They felt that was fair .

It's worth mentioning that value wise Cyprus differs little from the UK , if £100 will buy 2 meals , a few drinks and a taxi home here in the UK , then 100 euros will buy the same in Cyprus if you follow my logic .

It has already been mentioned by others that First Choice booked through (Thomson Travel) reps organised a day trip to the waterpark . There are 3 waterparks in Cyprus and the newest and biggest is not 20 minutes from the hotel . We were told the coach would take an hour to reach the park , we were not told we would have to travel around on the coach collecting passengers for an hour BEFORE starting the hour long drive to the park . The park we were taken to was the oldest and least equipped . The kiosk served lukewarm coffee that nobody drank so my partner went to the Costa coffee stall but gave up waiting when 35 minutes later the guy behind the counter was still preparing 2 cups of coffee for the only other customer ? by the time my partner returned to our seats the kids were back , they had tried every ride and weren't particularly impressed . Incidentally a coffee at the park was 3.50 euros and the only member of our group that bought a pint of lager paid 6.50 euros for it ! . My niece her and her husband having 4 kids spent over 100 euros on snacks and cold drinks , so much for all inclusive . So we spent 4 hours that day on a bus , perhaps 1 hour enjoying the park and 4 hours feeling trapped and unable to leave . I will be seeking a refund .
This day trip was so bad less than half our group went to the Zoo trip organized by First Coice but by all accounts those who did go wish they hadn't .

On the same note i would advise any who have already booked this holiday to order a taxi when returning to the airport on your way home . Guests at the Gardens are collected first , the coach then stopped at 5 or 6 other hotels to collect others thus turning a 45 minute journey into an hour and a half which is not the best way to prepare for a 5 hour overnight flight especially when we were seated right next to the only toilet onboard the plane , the other toilets weren't working on the flight out either !

What can i say to sum up .

The wedding was good but it was no doubt very much helped along by the goodwill of us the guests , we wanted it to be good for the happy couple and so we overlooked what was lacking . Truth be told the whole thing had a feel of being thrown together at the last minute , niether the gardens nor the St Goerge Hotel (which is where the venue was held) have any permanent facilities to host a wedding which ,given it is abroad , will almost certainly consist of a small party .The photographer was found waiting at the wrong hotel . The preacher could not be found and so a qualified lady was called to confirm the vows , she made little or no effort to hide the fact that this was an inconvienience for her and brought her four year old son along in his superman t-shirt to underline the fact . Following the wedding she had one quick drink at the bar (waiting to be paid i'd guess) and did not so much as look at the bride and groom or speak to any of the guests . The wedding banquet was pretty much a Sunday dinner with a bunch of tables hastily arranged under a tree with tablecloths . This ofcourse was the only option because you cannot hope to entertain 20 people in a room that holds 300 . The open top wedding bus driving us around town saved the day , it crowded us together and we were lucky enough to have enough kids in our group to make it fun . The kids took great joy in shouting and waving to strangers who returned the gestures with a smile .

Cyprus is a lovely place with lovely people i would definately go there again , it was my partners first ever holiday and my first holiday in 14 years we were determined to enjoy it regardless but we would not go to the Gardens again .

Every single guest we spoke to had booked under the impression that the Gardens were simply an extension of the main St Goerge Hotel and the facilities of both would be freely available . In reality we were asked to sign our name and room number for every drink in our own hotel and we had no more right to the main hotels facilities than anybody passing by who decided to pop in . This seperated many wedding guests (3 of our own group were only seen on the wedding day !) . This is further confused and amplified by the fact that guests in the main hotel that complained were given free run of our hotel and actually treated better than ourselves !

We will never go all inclusive again because ultimately (with spending to get away from the hotel) we spent around £4000 and my partner insists we could have enjoyed 4 seperate 2 week foriegn holidays self catering for that kind of money .

P.S the beach (what there is of it) is man made , it is not sand but a sort of fine gravel that looks like sand but certainly does not feel like it , its is uncomfortable to walk on barefoot and even worse if it gets in your shoes .
And once again the staff have my sympathy , Kaz , Christian , Daisy , Rich , Chrissy , Gorgia and all the rest , too many to name , do a great job . The failures fall to First Coice and Thompson Holidays and the Hotel management .

A remote contol for your TV costs 5 euros but dont bother there is only one channel in English and its a 24 hour news station .

Room Tip: Top floor if you want a private balcony bottom floor if you dont like walking or stairs , older people may well need a rest while walking from pool to the lift or back . I wouldnt want a room facing the sea in the middle of the hotel as the bar is directky below it .
