Fantastic Wedding

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 12, 2024via mobile
Well, where to begin. We had our amazing wedding here in May. Everyone went above and beyond to make our day flawless, literally from the point we booked to the last dance and last drink consumed. Everything was seamless. All allergies and intolerances are catered for (we had a few). The staff really are a credit to the hotel, always polite and courteous, and loving the updated uniforms. The princes' room and Compton rooms are just beautiful. The suite we had (room 234) was just wow! Amazing space and views. Perfect for the bridal party to get ready and to relax in after. Thank you again for helping us make such fantastic memories. Credit-Teri V for some of the photos.

My husband and I got married at The Grand Hotel in June 2023 and had a wonderful experience, therefore, we rebooked to stay here at the weekend, to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Upon ringing up to book our room, the person we spoke to told us that we would receive a complimentary room upgrade, hotel capacity permitting. We thought this was such a lovely gesture from the hotel and not one we expected at all!

We arrived at the hotel on Saturday, full of excitement and ready to have a relaxing break away to celebrate our special milestone, however, this soon changed. Upon checking into the hotel we politely asked if we were to receive an upgrade to our room, as specified could be a possibility when we booked. The reaction from the receptionist was rude and abrupt, bluntly and loudly stating that this was not something that the hotel offered and that there were rooms available, but if we wanted an upgrade then we would need to pay for this. My husband and I were taken aback by her terse response, as there were other guests behind us waiting to check in, who would have heard this awkward exchange. I would like to state that we would never have asked for an upgrade if it had not of mentioned at the time of booking, however, this exchange with the receptionist left us feeling very embarrassed. Originally, we were planning on eating dinner at The Garden Restaurant at the hotel that evening, but as a result of this negative checking-in experience, we chose to leave the hotel and eat elsewhere for our anniversary dinner.

I would like to add, that the room we booked to stay in was lovely; a newly refurbished superior room. It was very modern, spotlessly clean and had a fantastically comfortable bed. In addition, the staff at the Health Spa were lovely, however, the exchange with the receptionist very much marred our whole experience, leaving us feeling deflated and not eager to visit again anytime soon.

Lovely, classy classic hotel, outstanding service from the gents at the door to other staff! Only had breakfast there but it was very nice, good choice and good quality. Had a slight issue with the shower but the staff sorted everything for us. Lovely place, good location! Highly recommend a couple of nights.

Exceptional service from the moment you are greeted on arrival. All staff are very attentive but must make a special mention for Etienne and Cameron in the cocktail lounge who went above and beyond. Rooms were spacious and clean and food amazing. We hope to visit again soon.

My husband and I came to the Grand for a charity ball and what an amazing time we had! The food was delicious, the ambiance of the ballroom was magnificent and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself definitely has that by-gone age charm with lots of original features. If you love period dramas this is 100% the hotel for you. The swimming pools were an absolutely delightful way to unwind. I genuinely could’ve stayed for longer than just the weekend- Super relaxing.
