We chose to stay at Albany Lions Hotel as we were visiting Brighton for Pride and Britney Spears and all other hotels in Brighton were either overpriced or sold out so Eastbourne was the next best option.
We found Eastbourne to be a decent alternative to Brighton, it had a nice beach although not too busy, plenty of places to eat, a long pier with entertainment and a nice promenade for walks, I was also surprised and grateful to find free factor 30 suncream dispensers dotted along the beach and promenade which was really useful.
On entering the hotel we were greeted by a friendly European lady who let us know our room wasn’t ready but allowed us to purchase parking on the street at the side of the hotel for 24 hours at a discounted rate of £1.
When we finally arrived back at the hotel in the early hours of the next morning we headed straight to our room which was an ok size with a comfortable enough bed but the room was let down by a couple of things such as the bathroom hadn’t been fully cleaned after the previous guests and possibly even longer, there was blatant shaving hair all over the wall tiles, the occasional long hair on the floor, a dead spider and con webs on the extractor fan and then in the bedroom there was a poorly constructed bed side table which wouldn’t...We chose to stay at Albany Lions Hotel as we were visiting Brighton for Pride and Britney Spears and all other hotels in Brighton were either overpriced or sold out so Eastbourne was the next best option.

In the morning we went down for breakfast, the breakfast/dining room is located at the front of the hotel with plenty of windows looking out to the sea. The waitress who served us was friendly and offered us a tea or coffee and recommended us a nice table for to sit with a sea view but out of the beaming sun. The breakfast was a buffet including items such as bacon, sausage, different types of eggs, hash browns, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast, jams, cereals and juices, we both enjoyed it and found plenty to chose from even with me being a vegetarian. If you do book this hotel I recommend booking with breakfast as it was delicious and worth adding.
Although the hotel was let down by the cleanliness in our bedroom, I hope my comments will encourage the management/cleaning staff to not make the same mistake again and in doing so I would be happy to return again in the future. More
